Kaidan is suppose to be a powerful biotic... yet he never uses them cause that would require making a different scene insteado swaping Models!

Shepard makes his reputation when he has the training, resources and equipment of an N7 Commando, pretty much walking death machines. Ash does everything on less training and inferior equipment.
Will Ash ever match Shepard in his capabilities as a peacemaker and warrior? Probably not. Will she be a merciless killing machine on parr with Saren and Vasir? Most definitely.

Both Kaiden and Ashley weren't qualified to be Spectres. I admit that freely as an Ashley fanboy. Spectres are suppose to be the best of the best, the right hand of the council and one of the deadliest weapons in the Galaxy.
The VS just isn't Spectre material. However Ash and Kaiden still have an impressive record and are two of the best soldiers in the Alliance. So there's no denying their impressive feats. If this were real life, i'd probably put Ashley and Kaiden's talent on the same level as Delta Team. They're that good. Qualified for Spectres though? Eh not so much. The only squadmates in Mass Effect that were good enough to be Spectres were:
Garrus
Samara
Miranda
And of those 3, Garrus is the only one of those that could in the future become one. Samara is already a Justicar, and they wouldn't let Miranda in cause of her history.
I fail to see how Garrus qualfies more then anybody else, especailly when the stuff that does qualify him is on par with what Ashley and Kaidan have been doing without Shepard.

Except Ash, and Kaiden for that matter, never do anything that shows them being bad ass.
Wrex is a millenia old Krogran war machine.
Garrus lead a rag tag group of mercs against a veritable army of hardcore killers in the heart of evil town, and was winning.
Miranda and Grunt are genetically engineered super soldiers.
Jack is the most dangerous criminal in a prison full of super criminals (basically a female Riddick), not ot mention her insane biotic displays.
Samara is a knight templar who's been scouring the galaxy and killing bad guys for half a millenia, alone.
Thane is one of the galaxy's top assassins.
Mordin is a scientist and special forces operative for one of the most elite groups in the galaxy.
Zaeed started one of the largest mercenary outfits in the galaxy and has been killing people for god knows how long (and he survived a bullet to the head by sheer willpower).
etc.
Ash survived against some Geth for a while until Shep rescued her and Kaiden is apparently pretty good at biotics.

So what? Since when is the merit of a character determined by some arbitrary level of badass? What is badass anyway? A cool cutscene? Snarky dialogue? Devil may care attitude? A distinct lack of weaknesses or flaws (or a lack of acknowledgement thereof)? A cool backstory or recruitment mission that serves highlight how special and badass they are (only for them to fall in line and fade into the background)?Tritium315 wrote...

It reminds me of Garrus actually. With his Commander dead he loses his patience with everyone else, quits C-Sec again/Spectre training and chooses to sulk on Omega, until the Commander returns from the dead, saves his ass and takes him back.Goneaviking wrote...
I miss the days when Achilles sulking in his tent because his commander in chief confiscated his concubine was the height of manliness.
Now that was badass at its most refined.
