How is Shepard still alive under that rubble? If he fell back to London how would he survive falling through Earth's atmosphere? So is he still alive on the Citadel? If so, why does the rubble look like concrete from Earth? This was my only unanswered question even before the EC.

The rubble is probably plaster or ceramic or something that looks like concrete. And s/he survived the way humans hare survived trapped under rubble in the real world.

It's called art. Anything is possible.

Even women living in your radiator.

Yes, I've even seen that.

That part's supposed to be up to you.

The logic used by EC is that he is under rubble caused by the explosion from the red tube of doom thing. So, he is still on the citadel, just not in an easily accessible area.

A space wizard did it. He had leftover space magic he was saving for synthesis, so he just said "f--k it" and made Shepard live.

I can't tell if it's a cliffhanger or not. I really don't know what Bioware wanted it to be. Obviously it was meant to be the end of Shepard, but it ended so abruptly.

Supposedly s/he ducked to avoid the explosion in the cutscene.

Ever see Eraserhead?

There's a woman who lives in a radiator.

No, this is not a picture of Diana Allers.

Shepard doesn't survive beyond that day.

It was put in for "false hope" so that people wouldn't whine about Shepard having no choice, but to die. If Shepard lived there would have been a reunion shown.

Shepard surviving = Halo 3 ending.

They have to leave the door open.

If you want him alive, don't let them take it away from you.

Officially?

You assume Shepard survived. That could have just been a final breath before he/she died.

You're not getting any other answer.

I would rephrase your question into: How could he survive the crucible's wave which was supposed to kill him because of the synthetics parts introduced in his body by the Lazarus project? Quoting the catalyst: "all synthetics will be targeted; even you are partly synthetic".

And how could he survive an explosion that destroyed a major part of the citadel while being at its epicenter? Not to mention he's been shot and bleeding for a while.

It's the reason I can't see the breath scene as something else than an easter egg left by the developpers.

This is how I see it going down:

2012
Fans: But what does all this means? Does Shep live?
Bioware: Lots of speculations for everyone!

2014
Bioware: Hey fans, we've made a new ME game, you gonna buy?
Fans: Lots of speculations for everyone!

It's meant to leave you brimming with hope. Don't you feel hopeful after that epic gasp?

Seriously though, you must write your own ending for your Shepard. My Shepard survived and recovered from her injuries, reunited with her LI, and went on to star in a biographical smash Broadway musical called "This Hurts You....But Not Anymore!"

It won many awards, and was even adapted to an underwater version for enthusiastic Hanar audiences.  :D

According to David Lynch, Eraserhead is "A dream of dark and troubling things"

Shepard survived getting shot by Harbinger.

I think a little explosion in her face isn't going to do **** to her.
