Dragon Age Ultimate Edition
Steam
Patch 1.04 (it won't let me patch 1.05, non-steam only apparently)
Windows 7 Professional 64-bit
All the DLC is installed

Specs:
Processor:
Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 3.00 GHz
Ram:
4gb (3.19 usable, whatever that means)
Display Adapter:
ATI Radeon HD 5700 series, 1024mb, Driver Version 8.961.0.0
Sound adapter:
Pretty much the one build into the mobo

So I have done some research and have found no satisfactory fix to my problem. The game crashes to desktop at random for reasons reliability monitor helpfully define as, "Stopped Working." No **** reliability monitor.

The reliability monitor page:

These crashes happen for no discernable reason, usually when I click on part of the inerface or just about anywhere. This forces me to save often, however I'm only making progress in the game about 5-15 minutes at a time. The crashes were infrequent at first first happening just after completing the City Elf origin, or I should say after exiting the estate and beginning the confrontation with the guards. They have become far more frequent as I get further and further and I am only as far as the Kokari Wilds.

Any suggestions would be helpful.

I've big problems too :crying:

I've just got Windows 7 (mine's a hard copy of the game)
keeps crashing, just had a look at the Nvidia PhysX problem  and will try setting it to CPU as suggested.

my main problem is is freezes and or breaks up with thousands of little white windows in it.
It's a new graphics card, Win 7 64bit, all bells and whistles new compter.

I just don't think DA is up to it :crying:

It appears I found a solution, although it's not really the best of solutions.

My graphics card was old and damaged, but it worked for the most part. Random boxes on certain textures and the like. Fortunately it was mostly interface of most games and rarely the game world this affected.

I ended up replacing the card finally and now it works perfectly. From the research I've done on this subject TanyaT, these issues usually have something to do with the graphics card. Updating the drivers might fix it, or it might not. It works for some people, give it a try. Unfortunately that's the extent of my knowledge.

My DAOrigins crashes randomly ( possibly getting more frequent) I've done some looking and according to the posts error 00000005 is something to do with memory. Further reading suggests this may be due to having a 64 bit os running a 32 bit program with a 2g limit. Apparently it can be fixed by specifying how much memory to use but I don't know the mechanics. Is there anything on the official support? I would have thought that a 2G limit was a little frugal these days

Try setting your processor affinity in the task manager. It has worked like a charm for me on my latest playthrough.

@AgedCloak
I have a Intel Duo and I use processor affinity to run it on just one CPU instead of both. I'm not sure how many you would want to check. I would just fiddle around with it until you get the right amount. I assume you would want to aim for one or two.
