much, if any, information as to why they were reprimanded as we do not
want to give them any way to streamline their cheating to avoid being
banned. We do not currently give date/time/etc. information for any

BW: You're under arrest.
Player: What's the charge?
BW: We're not going to tell you.

Seriously?

If you're going to bring capital punishment to video games, you realy ought to tell them why you're crippling their $80 game.

I think Bioware sometimes forgets we're paying customers... taking away a major portion of the game should be a last resort.

Sadly, their inability to fix exploitable bugs (instead of banning everyone) and EA's corporate greed is driving them down a dark path. It's only a matter of time someone they ban has access to wealth of legal knowledge and decides to fight back.

This.  Also, no doubt some of the people being banned have bought packs with real money (notice I didn't say all or most).

I seriously doubt the majority of people asking questions are cheaters--they may very well be concerned about unintentional 'guilt by association', especially since they most likely bought the game themselves rather than have mom or dad buy it for them.  When you have your own money invested into a product and see a secretive system used in which you have no recourse to defend yourself properly or recoup your money if the business you are dealing with should decide to arbitrarily disable your product, you become very concerned.  Perhaps you have no questions because you don't have any level of financial investment in the product.

Given BioWare's mentions of guilt by association I did have some questions for them, for my own peace of mind. And I did get peace of mind, because from the answers I was given here I have nothing to worry about. ^^

Not everyone who asks questions has something to hide, or be ashamed about.

My question is about Macro's.
I have a Razer Naga mouse and have been thinking of adding a Macro to allow me to hold down the mouse button and fire single shot weapons (like the Mattock) in rapid fire.
Would that be considered a cheat, exploit or legitimate?

I didn’t cheat, and got banned with zero explanation.
I appealed, was overruled and provided with zero explanation!
I appealed again, was provided with zero explanation and told, in so many words, to stop emailing them.

@ Thomas Abram  as you have created the OP you are my next port of call.
The Original Post states;

A: Definitely, we aren’t perfect and we’re constantly looking to improve. We understand that we make mistakes and that’s exactly why we have the appeal process.

You are correct on this point. You have made a mistake.

You have wrongly and unjustly crippled my quite frankly expensive collector’s edition game, most probably on a “tip off” from some disgruntled player who I scored higher than in the game!

I wish to formally complain about the incredibly rude manners of the man I had the misfortune to deal with, and your companies approach to “Customer Service”.
Cut and paste email responses of such vague and rude natures are completely unacceptable.

He and the “multiple members of the team” that have independently investigated my case and have arrived at the same conclusion are wrong.
Probably. Without knowing what it is that I have allegedly done knowing what checks are performed, who can possibly say!?

This extremely harsh, knee jerk reaction from BioWare is a bit of a “lock me up and throw away the key” overreaction don’t you think?

I will accept a credit and stat wipe if you still think I’ve done something intentionally or unintentionally wrong.
I’ll even let you keep the BioWare points I’ve already spent in the store!

I’m even prepared to turn a blind eye to the flagrant disregard of Origin’s Terms of Service that sate in article 9 that 30 days’ notice will be given before withdrawal of a service. And the descriptions in the same ToS that outline 'cheating' that i can catagorically say I have not done.

But I will not accept being spoken to in the manner in which I have been by your staff.

fixed, sorry but thats why they wont tell you so you can and wont do that  cheat that you know will get you caught.
makes sense actually if you look at it

like doing murder and getting caught but with out the cops telling you how you know you did it  and wont give up the part that got you caught for doing murder

Could you give us a definitive answer on whether or not adjusting FOV is legit or considered an advantage? Talking about widescreenfixer.org or flawlesswidescreen.org or similar.

This.  Also, no doubt some of the people being banned have bought packs with real money (notice I didn't say all or most).

All sales are final, and the EULA states you can be banned for exploitation of the game. If you didn't read the rules and agreed to them anyway, there is no sympathy to be shared.
The EULA also states that by playing the game you are not allowed to participate in a class action lawsuit against EA over the game, which means any legal action would be pointless to most everyone.

Q: Can I modify the “ini” file to give myself advantage over enemies in single player campaign as long as I don’t play multiplayer with that “ini” file.

A: It is okay to modify files if it only affects single player campaign, but modifying the “ini” file can put you at risk and is not recommended as the “ini” file is also used in multiplayer. If your modified SP “ini” effects MP in a way that gains you an unfair advantage then you are breaking the rules.

So just to be sure, if I was to apply the MP's balance changes to my local ini. file I would not be breaking the rules, correct?

So today I checked my email and I saw I had mail from EA, opening it I found I had been banned for cheating. This email came to me over a month ago to let you know how often I actually play, but I found it amusing that I was banned for giving myself credits through the InI file I have personal acess to, even though I did this because my stuff was wiped out twice, when they were having the whole if you go to a store while in a lobby and buy something it can wipe your stuff or whatever. I spent money in your store, granted it was only 10$ but my guys stuff was lost and you guys took like 6 weeks to get back to the people you had essentially ripped off.
So I was banned for something I did over 4 months ago. Instead of a slap on the hand, or a hey we took your credits and some of your weapons and you can't play for a few days or weeks or so, permenant ban eh?
Thats ok, I'm good with not ever buying another EA game again. Take it easy Bioware, I'll miss the old you.

So, could someone please tell me if using reegar and flamer simultaneously is considered bannable? I'm currently doing it with my vorcha but I'll stop doing it if it is bannable.

I don't know any game where you can cheat and not get banned that's still active and maintained. Glad you got banned for unfairly gaining an advantage.

Let me break it down a little simpler. I have played this game since it first came out. In fact, I am an avid gamer. I have played most of the FPS games to include all of the Halo games. While I have logged plenty of hours on my spare time, I have never made a glitch or had to cheat in order to progress in any of these games. If you can’t play the game, the way it was intended, create your own game and sell it. Stop ruining everybody else’s fun and love for these games.  Again, I don’t have to ask is this cheating or that cheating. People who play the game the way it was intended just don’t have these questions to ask because they are not in fear of the ban hammer. Those who are asking these questions, at one time or another, have cheated in one form or another. Now they are afraid that they will be banned. I don’t have pity for those that cheat. It doesn’t get any simpler than that.  So Bioware, swing that mighty hammer Image IPB

BioWare say guilty by association. If you played with this “Friend” and at the end of the game on a bronze match and you received 100,000 credits for that match you know for a fact that you can’t get amount for bronze. You still kept playing and receiving that amount then my friend, you are up the creek without a paddle or S*** out of luck. How ever you want to put it.

Your “Friend” was doing the missile glitch and you didn’t know. How can that be. Each player has a max of 5 (Up to ten for those that first started M/P) So every time in the lower right hand corner of the screen it states your friends name with “missile” as the kill shot throughout the whole game. You didn’t realize it or the end score was your friend 200,000 points and the rest of the team 10,000 points. This didn’t raise a flag. You rode with your friend and may pay the consequences. Take him off there are thousands of others out there. If you just accept friends online like that, then you need to mange yourself a little better and let that be a lessoned learned.

There are no excuses when you should know between right and wrong. If you entered a game and someone in the game did the missile glitch, how is that going to effect you. You didn’t do it. If you stayed in the next game with him and several others then yes you are guilty. You benefited from him.

I was in games that contained missile glitches. Probably 2 out of every 5 were. When that game was over I left and went into a new game. Bioware has already stated that they don’t want you to quit because you will lose your consumables, but you must leave and not play with that person again. This is not hard people.

Safest thing to do is to self-report yourself after every game you play. That way you disassociate yourself from any cheaters that you don't even know about. ;)

but the thing is i never recieved a boosted credit amount(im guessing youve seen this happen and it mustve been a mod?) i dont constantly check the point scores by pausing the game and i had this happen with earth dlc being out so i though it was another destroyer or whatever the soldier is. i did defriend this guy and blocked him...i havnt talked to him since. so why do you think im a cheater if i am not. i have played all of the halos and CoD games aswell and all of my scores are legit. im smart but not enough to hack and/or mod ( or so ive heard it is hard?) so how can my positive 1.63 K/D on halo be fake? so i honestly can beg to differ. why ban all of the people regardless of assotiation? i do leave when i find cheaters. i even made a thread about cheaters 2 days ago asking about horrible lag or a hack/mod. i dislike them to but ive played many games with cheaters...and ive never stayed.

When I played the first matches with them I had no idea what the Vorcha glitch was. It's not all that noticable when you're not familiar with a person's skill, or with the difficulty. Some map exploits are not all that noticable either if you're busy trying to take care of your own part of the killing, and trying not to die. They pulled me into platinum matches, and I was somewhat overwhelmed by the whole thing. I barely play Gold. From the way they talked I got the impression they were playing it for fun, and not for the credits, and if they were willing to let me screw up I was willing to try to survive. We wiped two out of three times. That doesn't exactly give much cause to suspect cheating.

I have defriended him, and all the people I met through him. I did that the moment I realized they were glitching the Vorchas on purpose.

I only met a missile glitcher once, a random we picked up when we were three friends playing, and we quit the match the moment we realized he was doing it. We didn't even finish it. I only used the missile glitch as an example because it's a well known exploit.

As I said in my previous post, the clarifications I got for asking the questions showed me that I have nothing to worry about. I have done nothing to deserve a ban, unless you count inexperience in the game as a bannable offense.

I agree it's frustrating to have all these bannable bugs in the game that aren't getting fixed, not to mention people being banned without being told why, but Bioware has a good sense of what offenses warrant what punishment when compared with other companies, and fact is that being told why would only serve to aid the cheaters in streamlining their cheating process to avoid detection (exactly as the devs have so wisely stated on multiple occasions).

Yes the glitches are annoying, but all the people who can be working on fixing those glitches are already doing just that, and the people doing the banning of cheaters are a different group/department altogether. If all they were doing were banning people and they decided to never fix the glitches being exploited, then that would be worth us getting angry over. That's not the case though, and while they work on fixing those glitches it is entirely the right thing for them to be banning any and all who cross the line.

I remember back when I was playing Halo Reach (specifically in Firefight Matchmaking) I had consistently horrible luck getting either of the only two levels I really wanted, namely Outpost or Corvette, and it got to the point where I started backing out of lobbies that kept giving me other maps. Only to the extent that I played the levels I wanted to as often as all the other levels, but in Halo Reach you're not allowed to back out once you're in a lobby, so in the end as I kept forcing it to let me play the levels I wanted at least sometimes (which it seemed to resist at every turn and keep trying to make me play any level but the ones I wanted) it caught up with me and they reset my Halo Reach account (at the rank of Field Marshall, so anyone looking at my current Reach stats and thinking I should be higher rank than a Mythic, you're right) and made me a recruit again (though I kept my stats/medals, and they may not have told me why but I put two and two together, I was quitting out of a lot of pregame lobbies....). That is something to be pissed off about, because it's a poorly designed game that won't let you choose what you want to play and also penalizes you for backing out of the pregame lobby.

I may have some complaints about this game, but banning isn't one of them, they seem to have their wits about them there. In this game I'm not stuck when I enter a lobby, whether because it's the wrong map or filled with scrubs I can just back out and find another without worrying about being banned for it, I have the freedom to choose what I play and when I play it and who I play it with. And frankly it's awesome, I may wish they'd add extra search options, but apart from that (and the various glitches) this game flat-out kicks ass, and everyone whining about how Bioware bans for no good reason don't have the slightest clue of what they're talking about.

No game is perfect, and as full of more than its fair share of glitches as this game may be (not to mention a few stupid mechanics, looking at you RNG store), the developers are also the most active in improving/fixing etc. of any game I've ever heard of (especially since this MP is the slapped-on extra to what was first and foremost a SP game). By and large I don't see why anyone is complaining rather than thanking the developers profusely and asking (nicely) for the various things they want (not all this demanding and ranting and flaming and whatnot), I'm nothing but grateful to these devs for all the hard work and I just hope they keep it up as long as they're able.

Bioware has already stated that they don’t want you to quit because you will lose your consumables, but you must leave and not play with that person again. This is not hard people.

but the thing is i never recieved a boosted credit amount(im guessing youve seen this happen and it mustve been a mod?) i dont constantly check the point scores by pausing the game and i had this happen with earth dlc being out so i though it was another destroyer or whatever the soldier is. i did defriend this guy and blocked him...i havnt talked to him since. so why do you think im a cheater if i am not. i have played all of the halos and CoD games aswell and all of my scores are legit. im smart but not enough to hack and/or mod ( or so ive heard it is hard?) so how can my positive 1.63 K/D on halo be fake? so i honestly can beg to differ. why ban all of the people regardless of assotiation? i do leave when i find cheaters. i even made a thread about cheaters 2 days ago asking about horrible lag or a hack/mod. i dislike them to but ive played many games with cheaters...and ive never stayed.

At no point in my posts I said ban all people for association. Bioware has to investigate and I’m sure they check game stats and other inquiries and compile everything to “paint a picture” of the alleged gamers history.  If you read my post it states if you leave after the game its all good. If you continue to play with that cheater then there goes your “pattern” or “history” I find it hard to believe that people who play this game don’t check scores or wouldn’t notice something funny going on in the game, unless you are totally new at ME3 multiplayer. Just read these forums and you will see people crying about scores, weapons, kill stealing……..its crazy. Believe me. There are people here that can tell you what weapon or ability got nerfed or buffed before Bioware announces it.  This is game is supposed to be fun and entertaining. Its unfortunate that there are people out there that try and do the opposite.

i think you people sould stop crying and asking stupid questions. if you cheat in any way you should be banned period.what if this, what if that..if you have to ask these questions then you probably are not playing the game correctly and are cheating. i have no questions to ask because i dont cheat.

You must either only play with friends, or be very lucky, to never have finished a match with cheaters without knowing it until it was too late.

I had someone on my friendslist who I added through the game (because he was fun to play with), and didn't realize until after a few matches that he, and many of the people he played with, were cheating. I had no idea if they'd been cheating on previous matches I played with them.

Given BioWare's mentions of guilt by association I did have some questions for them, for my own peace of mind. And I did get peace of mind, because from the answers I was given here I have nothing to worry about. ^^

Not everyone who asks questions has something to hide, or be ashamed about.

If you just accept friends online like that, then you need to mange yourself a little better and let that be a lessoned learned.

wow i wonder what your outlook on life is. hope its not as bad as this theoryImage IPB

So is the flamer and reegar at the same time an exploit?
I mean, since you know everything, you must know the answer.

Edit: Thanks for correcting my terrible english :P
