Anyway, using this glitch loads up the vendor you're selling the crystals to (the Redcliffe blacksmith, in my case) to a point where it corrupts any saved games, rendering the game unplayable. In different forums, I've read hundreds upon hundreds of people reporting this problem, even many who didn't use the crystal exploit (or any others). No one who's reporting the problem are saying anything about responses from EA, aside from the canned auto-replies or suggestions to delete all saved games and start over, which is not really a feasible option, if you have 50+ hours on a character. Is EA/Bioware working on this bug? Can we expect a patch soon?
And to any flamers, please save the "That's what you get for cheating" responses. I played through first without using this, and this next playthrough is just to see how powerful a character I can build with unlimited cash.
Also, this can be a problem for ppl that don't exploit at all, if they tend to use the same vendor to sell all of their loot to or tend to load up the Soldier's Peak chest. If there is a limit to how much a vendor can hold, then that limit needs to be set where you can't sell any more to that vendor, not corrupt the game.
