Hi,
I've just returned to playing NWN2 (still one of my favorite games) after a long break. I find now that while installing one of the custom-made mods, TonyK's AI has been installed on my PC. Originally, I had only the modified AI that came with the SoZ.
With all due and really heartfelt respect for TonyK and his great contribution, I really would like to play without his full AI, which I have never been able to work the way I want it to, so it's actually ruining my gameplay.

I feel like I tried all the adjustments there is, but I still cannot make it work properly. The main issue, I think, is that this AI has a completely opposite view of how the game should be played, compared to mine. According to this AI, it's intelligent behaviour for companions to use items, cast spells, switch from ranged to melee weapons, etc. etc.

According to me, this is just stupid and destructive. I want my companions to attack any creature within range, or if I dedicate them to attacking one particular creature, I want them to go on with that. I never want them to stop fighting and run away, unless I specifically tell them so. I don't want them to switch weapons, because part of the fun for me is deciding which weapons they should use, and I rarely agree with the AI in the selection, particularly when they carry several different melee or ranged weapons. I don't want them to waste their spells or magic items/potions on minor battles, so what I actually want is to micromanage my entire party, just like old-style BG used to be played. If I wanted to watch a fantasy movie with characters acting independently, of course I'd rather rent a DVD movie.

So - micromanagement is my ideal, but still I want my characters to keep doing the basic sensible thing, which is attacking the nearest creature, and following me when I issue the "follow-order". BTW how can I avoid that annoying feature that any movement away from combat (for instance, in order to position my casters better) is automatically interpreted as a "Follow me"-order, causing the entire party to break off from combat and retreat?

After I got TonyK's AI installed, my experience is that either my characters will behave too independently (like, deciding for themselves to switch melee/ranged and which weapon combos they'll use) or they will (via some experimentation with the AI settings) just stand there idly, or perhaps asking "Should I attack?" while their enemy is right next to them.

So, unless there is a way to adjust the settings to the way I like them (which I doubt) - could anyone advice me as to how I remove TonyKs AI and get back to the SoZ AI? Without reinstalling the entire game, I mean.
Thanks in advance for any help! And again my respect to those who find this AI useful, there are different styles and tastes.

You can turn off companion ai entirely, there's a button for it in the lower left corner. That's the ultimate in micromanagement (I believe they do still follow you with ai off).

You can certainly turn off all item usage and weapon switching with Tony K's AI. That's how I play, while also turning off spellcasting AI entirely, since these are all things I want to do myself.

Any piece of custom content that's installed should be in your MyDocs/NWN2/override folder. If you don't like a piece of AI, pull it out of there. You can also rename your override folder, which will create a new override folder, then just add whatever pieces of content you like.

I totally sympathize. I've tried repeatedly to make that AI work to my liking, but it always turns my party into a chicken fire drill. If it is actually written into the mod, as some community AI was written into SoZ, there's not much you can do. If it was added to the override folder (as it should have been), just delete it as Masterchanger stated. Turning off the AI altogether is not a good option unless you want to totally micromanage your party.

May I ask which mod you're referring to? If it's built-in, I want to avoid that one.
