With news that new ME3 DLC is coming our way this summer (Leviathan DLC) the question to ask is, is it even worth getting? BioWare has done very well in the past for adding single player storylines to already released games but each of those DLC added something to the game. Not only was it worth the cost to buy and download but the content itself was good for a few hours of gameplay. Here's just a couple examples:

Mass Effect 2:
Liar of The Shadow Broker- Price: $10 (800 Microsoft Points) Gameplay Value: Huge Value. It provided a mission that resulted in a few additional hours of gameplay AND added to the rest of the game. You could purchase upgrades, find planets where certain elements were high in and learn more about every character in the game.
Overload- Price: $5.99 (560 Microsoft Points) Gameplay Value: For me Overload didn't do a ton for me but it still provided a bit of time to play. It's price, seemed a little high, but it was kinda worth it.

For Mass Effect 3 we get the new Leviathan DLC soon. It will cost $10 regardless of what platform you get it for. BioWare has said it will help your end of the game but won't change anything in the end. It sounds like it should provide a few hours of gameplay, although it could be less time or more time. The question is, is it worth $10? Will it be like Shadow Broker DLC which added value to the entire game and gave us a few hours of gameplay? Or will it be a quicker mission that gives us war assets but doesn't truly effect much? Do you think $10 is a fair price for single player DLC for ME3 or do you think it's price is a little high?

Yes, probably.

I sort of got the ending I wanted so more of the game is not a bad thing. I just hope that the DLC is Tuchanka and Rannoch quality.

If we get a bunch of DLC like that, the game might improve a great deal in my eyes.

At this point it really comes down to how many customers were pleased with EC, not the price or reasons.
Many people will definitely buy it because “it’s all about the journey”. Many won’t because they got f***ed up after reaching the destination. But I seriously doubt that BioWare will share the numbers, like: “Oh, look, 3+ million people bought our DLC!” at this point. Moderate success for a mediocre game, if you ask me.

A reaper origin story and a potential reaper asset sound cool to me. So yes I will be getting it. Whether if affects the ending or not is not my personal concern.

It's supposed to be 2-3 hours and span several locations...
It will add new revelations...
It features squad dialogue...
You also get AT-12 Raider shotgun and M-55 Argus Assault Rifle...

It features uncharted systems and new areas on the Citadel (unknown if citadel locations are temporary or hub)...

You forge an alliance with a damned reaper killer that has an indoctrinated army and who invades your mind. You also learn more about Harbinger...

And you go underwater in a mech suit...

Short answer: no.

Long answer:

I already got the M-55 Argus from the pre-order. I also have the N7 armor pack and the Chakram launcher (not a bad weapon for the Sentinel and Soldier classes). Why would I want to re-get the Argus? Why would I want to learn more about the Reapers, when there are so many other areas that need DLC help?

If the Leviathan changes the ending to the extent that Shepard lives/w reunion, then that would change everything.

Otherwise: no.

The only thing that would make it worth it for me would be if it radically changed the ending and got rid of Starbrat. But since it won't, the answer has to be no, not worth it to me.

To be honest, I cannot get any enthusiasm up for pure 'filler' material. Not when we already know where it's all going to end up whatever happens in it. Seems totally pointless to me, unless one has got nothing better to spend their money on, or, for some reason, adores the ending.

I'm buying for the squad, not the story.

I don't have too great expectations that it will really be anything amazing, but I think it will at least be fun.

Than you should leave now, because your setting yourself up for betrayl otherwise.

Completely subjective.

Personally I am incapable of being interested in the origins of the Reapers in the same way I would be incapable of being interested in the origins of the Borg if you killed off Picard in all the endings except the one where Data and all the Vulcans die.

I'll buy it becasue it sounds like it'll be a cool addition to mass effect 3, I want to learn more about the reapers, and I want the AT-12 Raider.

I'd say read the reviews or youtube it, but that would be hard since those do not exist yet outside of combat demo footage.

New locations.
New weapons (even if I have got one already).
New story that adds to the lore of Mass Effect.
And 3 hours of gameplay.
Sounds good for £6.85.

If you realy don't like the price wait to M$ put it in one of their DLC sales. Should only take a year or so.

Personally, I think it will be. I've always bought the DLC's for Mass Effect as I viewed them expanding on the content of each game. ME2 now is twice as long as before with the DLC. I would hope ME3 becomes the same way with many more fascinating DLC's that expand on the game.

I'll buy it, because ME3 needs some meat on it's bones. Damn, ME3, you so skinny child.

I'll buy it, and all subsequent DLC, because I've been a die-hard fan of Bioware since I played Baldur's Gate way back when.

I'll buy it because I want to support these guys, one last time. To fill out my ME3 experience and let my wallet say thank you for all those years of perfect story-telling.

But make no mistake; I am done with Bioware after this. Didn't buy DA2 and I won't buy DA3.
ME3 shows me what sort of company they have become, and while the mass consumer market loves the broad appeal, that stuff just isn't for me anymore.

So I will wrap up ME3, buy all the extra filling, and then me and Bioware will part ways.
Time for me to find a new love,

I realize it's a bit early to be discussing this. I'm only asking if the price they are asking for the DLC will match the content it will provide. When you pay $10 for new DLC, you at least want it to add to the storyline and/or provide you with enough content to last a few hours

I already have the Argus Rifle. Not my thing as I've always played as a Vanguard but from what I've been lead to understand all the Raider is is a shotgun with a huge pellet spread, a long reload time, and less capabilities than the Eviscerator or even the Crusader.

I'm interested in the story, not these weapons. I'll be purchasing the Firefight pack for those.

How about you decide in a less dogmatic and more rational way? Like, you know, buy it if it's good, not buy it if it's not? Too sane? Too logical? Nowhere near enough dramatic? Ok, have it your way then.
