I always wonder why does the Xbox community is, as claimed by many people, terrible. Is it simply because of the fact that Xbox always has a Microphone when playing, and that PC players usually don't use the mic?
The simple fact that the ability to talk makes one a lot more rude...wow
I mean, most people in PC games have mics attached, so I doubt that is the reason.

PC players just seem to be more mature than the majority of Xbox players imo. I play both on PC and sometimes 360, and the way people act in games/lobbies is completely different.
This may or may not be accurate, but I get the feeling that this is because the Xbox community is much more demographically diverse at the extremes. The problem is that the numerous people on the ends of the spectrum ruin things. Kind of like how vocal minorities of certain fanbases in sports give their team's general fanbase a poor name.

Me any my Krant drone on constantly, and people who speak up tend to join it (Thus, getting locked out of the cycle of pugs.)

My guess? Most parents buy their kids an xbox, and its a lot cheaper to pay 250 for a console than to pay the $600 is required to build your own gaming pc. Most kids dont know how to do that, so theyre stuck with prebuilts running at 3x the cost.Bluebeam2012 wrote...

I think it's in part (and I could be wrong about this) because it's a lot easier for a preteen/teenager to get a hold of an Xbox than it is for them to get a nice gaming computer. Kids are generally a lot mouthier and a lot ruder than adults. So I guess it comes down to a level of seriousness and maturity between the two platforms.

How often do you read threads by Xbox players and think "thank god I'm on PC"?
For me it's at least twice a day.

Last time I played on an X-box was at a friends house where I got treated to being cussed out by a little kid in the most curse word filled rant I ever heard in my life and I have worked in trades for well over 30 years so that's sayin something.
On mic thing, I can't get mine to work even now 5 months later in me3. Works in Vent, TS, and Mumble real well though. But not that I would use it anyways since I rarely if ever encounter players who need to be told things, all in all they all seem to know what the hell they are doing which is awsome.

Possibly a stupid question, but you do know that the push-to-talk key is tab, right?

I can get it to work sort of actually if I pick it up off the desk and shout into it. If you are asserting I am dumb, well explain why other speech communication software works perfectly? Heck even other games like BF3 it works. ME3 and my mic don't work to well and that's about it.

As for my own experience, damn near nobody talks. It's almost a good sign if they do, however.

Honestly, the closest I've ever heard to something rude on mic was "hey man, I don't mean to be rude, but you're just not ready for gold/platinum yet".
I got called a... word that rhymes with "hunt" for using a medi-gel. The guy really wanted his revival medal. Only happened that one though. Well, it happened about 34 times but all in one match, so...
I totally know where he's coming from, especially if your playing a squishy, but to stop what you're doing since your the closest, get past the atlas/turrets kill the phantom that downed them and any immediate threat the start the rez but only to have it interrupted partway through by them using medi-gel. Why didn't they use it in the first place?
You know what they say when you assume. You make an ass out of you. I used the medi-gel immediately because I wanted to get back up and help dps since the team looked like it was going down. Nobody went through anything trying to get me back up because I was back up before they knew I was down. Now stop talking.

If you're using a headset you might have to change your input device from default to the name of the devicefixit6 wrote...

Something is up with the VOIP in ME3, I play with a couple of guys who have to use Teamspeak because their voice is muffly and choppy with in-game chat.fixit6 wrote...

I had this exact same problem with my mic. It would work on everything else but ME3MP. I went into control panel, selected sound options, and amped up the mic volume in Windows. Now it works perfectly. Maybe that would work for you? (Course, you're gonna want to remember to turn it down again when you play other games, or you might not be so popular when everyone else is deaf!)

No, I'm not calling you dumb. I just never saw anywhere that it said tab was the push to talk key, a friend just told me the first time I played the game so I thought it was at least theoretically possible you didn't know.

One tiny bonus for PC is also a tool Creakazoid has created called the Ping Utility. Tried it and it is wonderful!

One of my early silver matches I got treated to a guy playing a female Quarian infiltrator absolutely going off in a drunken slur about how angry he was that people kept killing the target that he was sabotaging (game against Geth). At one point all 4 of us are in a hallway fighting numerous Geth with him screaming not to shoot the Prime. We're picking off all of the other Geth, but my Adept hits throw right as the Pyro next to the Prime dies. The game instantly targets the Prime and I land the killing blow. Dude just melted down on mic. I calmly explained that I was targetting somebody else who died and it insta-targetted the Prime and said "but it's really not that big a deal."
He screamed on the mic for 5 minutes asking everybody how to kick me, couldn't figure it out himself and took his ball and went home (left the game mid-round). So it's not all peaches and cream on PC but it does seem fairly relaxed.
