Most insulting thing I've heard as a PC player with ME3 was someone telling the host of a game that he shouldn't be hosting if his connection's crap.
Of course when the other two of us said that we weren't having problems with lag at all, he promptly apologised.

Of course, that's not to say that PC gaming doesn't have its share of f'ing tools... They do stick to certain games like Snowman and Influ above me noted - CoD, BF3 etc, which makes it a chore to read the respective game forums.

Ultimately, due to the popularity/ease of console gaming compared to PC, there will always be more idiots on console than PC. I like that. A lot.

Yes, because my female friends that play on the XBOX 360 complain about harassment by guys (b**** go make me a sandwich), and I honestly haven't been harassed at all as a female player on PC. Guys either don't say anything at all or have been friendly. I'm not sure why it's a different world, but it is.

I was playing a (PC) match not terribly long ago (can't remember the details), and I was the last one standing. I finished the wave solo, and when everyone got up, one of the other players said "good job", and I said "thanks".  Then he said, "whoa, you're a chick!", and I said, "Yep".  And he said "that's cool!"  That's the reaction I usually get...  or no special reaction at all, which is great, too!

Mass Effect 3 has been my first real MP experience, and I'm really enjoying it.  I've had very few negative (I won't even call them bad) experiences, and overall, I find the PC community to be very supportive.

I have been playing on PCs since the beginning as they are the most veriitile for gaming. I have found that more mature people play on the PC, hence will have more chivalrous attitudes towards women in general. That seems to be the rule, not an exception. Image IPB I always appreciate courtesy instead of rudeness.

PC gaming isn't that pricey unless you want to e-peen Crysis and 3DMark scores. Most games nowadays are console ports, meaning they're built to run on 6-7 year old tech and a cheap system can handle them just fine. I do most of my gaming on a cheap HTPC that cost less than a console, and my fanless Radeon 5570 and dual-core Athlon are sufficient to run the game at full 1080 res.

While back I was playing a game and on about round 7 a woman said something over the mic.  After a couple words her tone went "oh ****" and she didn't even finish her sentence.  Like she made a horrible mistake by accidentally letting us know there was a woman in the group.  I couldn't help but laugh (off mic of course).

True, but you will just have to upgrade your GPU more often.  I enjoy maxing out games like Crysis as one of the perks of PC's are the graphical capabilities.  Even ME3 looks fantastic on PC on my calibrated 60" plasma.  Blows the PS3 demo away.  And Skyrim looks great with some texture mods installed.

I wouldn't call it e-peen, per say.  It's more akin to a person witha car engine tinkering hobby.  Always looking for a few more HP.

Honestly, the closest I've ever heard to something rude on mic was "hey man, I don't mean to be rude, but you're just not ready for gold/platinum yet".

I haven't had any terrible run-ins on pc either. The two that come to mind are:

1. Last seconds of an extraction, and I hit the wrong key on my krogan vanguard. I charged outside the zone and couldn't make it back in time. Dude went crazy over his mic. It was one of my first games, and I muted the mic for several weeks after that.

2. Couple guys on a reaper gold match were apparently buddies, and they were complete pricks. Gave "condescending" a new name. Tore our fourth member up, talking about his weak load out and refusing to rev him when he dropped. I was rolling with my Shadow/pirhana, so they didn't say much about me (other than my extremely weak kill count). Sad thing about it - these guys were good. I just followed them around and covered their back sides as they wiped up. Still, I wouldn't play with them again.

every time I hop on the forums I say thank god I play this on pc. My only issue is with stat editors, which I only came across once. friend listed them reported them and they ended up off my friends list in the last ban wave :)

That's unfortunate.  One of my first Gold matches had a similar duo but the opposite mentality.  They helped me out, showed me how to work spawn points, made weapon layout suggestions and revived me.  Still use some things Iearned from them on gold and platinum runs.  They were having fun regardless of my skill at the time.

What's special about it?
People run off in 4 different directions and die 50% of the time.
I guess it's nice that nobody has a mic so I don't have to listen to crying like in MOBA games.

Sure sign of a failed mission-in-the-works.

The other day, we had an awesome looking team in the loadout screen, but as soon as we start, three of my teammates run in three different directions, leaving me standing there with a look of fearful foreboding. Every time I tried to run shotgun with one of them, they'd either take off running, cloak and split, or get dropped. We didn't last 5 waves

To be fair, I came across rude pc players a few times. One of them was incredibly irritating- laughing when a teammate dies, making baby noises and burping into his mic occasionally. The other one screamed "USE THE MISSILE LAUNCHER YOU F***!!!" when there was only one squad member left and he died immediately too.

Sigh an "I'm better than you because I play on a different platform" thread how original. You talk smack on Xbox players and their chosen(or maybe they can't afford a gaming PC) platform. Way to lower yourselves to the same "percived" level you have of Xbox players. Good job.

I agree with the OP. Every time I hear about people acting foolish I am confused because as a PC player I never experience this. It always turns out that the rude behavior is happening on the X-Box or PS3.

I think you lack some perspective on this thread as I haven't seen superiority talk.  Why do people have to always devolve to these types of comments?  It sounds like you have a complex.

Again, I own a console and a pc.  Am I not allowed to broach the topic of which platform I prefer to MP game?  Seriously, man, WTF is wrong with you?

There are plenty of idiots on the PC as well lol, don't just blame the "console players". No platform is safe from it. Of course there is probably a bigger mix of ages playing on the Xbox vs. the PC but when I play on the Xbox I have only run past a few real idiots. Most of the time it's silent or the people talking are pretty cool.

However I have yet to get anything on gold done since I have no friends that play this game and the pugs I get in are always really bad and I can never get them done :(

There are a lot of time I can't stand playing on the PC due to the elietest jerks that frequent PC games.  It goes both ways.

I've normally been a pc-gamer but currently have a laptop for university and a PS3 for the more demanding games. My experience on PC has been varied, but in ME3 I've only played on playstation, which has been a very good experience. See a lot of people with crappy builds and some bad behaviour, but I've never met someone who talked crap. Mics are a bit rare but they're usually nice enough.

Most of this thread revolves around unbelievable, rude, and juvenile behaviors of console players which PC players could never imagine or relate to, missile glitching (I understand this isn't even possible on the PC, but I have seen posts regarding this topic about how console players are and how you'd never see it on PC because of the integrity of the people playing on PC), and how everyone posting here is shocked by such behavior and are glad to not be a part of that community.

Now, imagine if you are talking about a city from the perspective of another, or maybe one race of people from the perspective of another.  All this over generalization and condescending pigeonholing would definitely reek of elitism with a dash of bigotry then, wouldn't it?  There is obviously a sense of superiority here.  Please don't insult us further by trying to deny it.  I read through all 7 pages of the thread.

I hope this was't read as being hostile.  It really didn't bother me so much, but the intention and the content of the thread came out pretty clear.  I was strictly a PC gamer until a few years back and have just started playing on the Xbox last November.  So I know the good and bad sides of both platforms.  You find immature idiots across all platforms, and you find very cool people across all platforms.

Can't we just leave it at that?

If you want to max the graphics and playing experience, say with mods that take GiBs of extra RAM, then yes, on PC you have the choice to do it if you can afford it. That's missing the point entirely though. For console vs. PC comparisons, you need to look at the requirements and costs of a machine capable of delivering the same experience on PC as the console in question.

On this basis, the cost of a PC isn't high at all; it becomes comparable to the consoles. You can even connect it to your TV if you don't want to buy a screen (I do this when at my cabin for instance) to save costs if all you want is something that looks as good on screen as the X-Box/PS3. Add to that the added value of functionality and better choice in services on the PC and you're quickly very much better off buying one in terms of ROI. An old PC or the laptop easily fulfills my modest gaming expectations (still better experience than my PS3 and XBOX IMO) when I'm not at my main gaming/work machine. :wizard:

As for my consoles, I somethimes pick up the old Sega MegaDrive for nostalgia, or the Wii for some light fun. :blush:Bad online experiences and lack of return of investment led to the XBOX and PS3 gathering dust in a cabinet somewhere.

Edit: I don't see the need for bashing people for wanting "e-peen 3DMark scores". A lot of us actually do like to see pretty graphics, and are willing to spend a good deal of money to get it, without ever feeling the need for publishing scores or setups to anyone, except for support purposes. :?

How can you kill that which has no life?

Funny picture but can you honestly tell me this doesn't happen on console as well?    Every system has people like this.
