Camping The Middle Room On Rio

-Played Rio with randoms
-Asked them if they wanted to take a side of the map instead of the middle room
-Rude people in game
-Had to solo rounds 5,6,and 7
-Was blamed for them being overtaken in that room, despite my best efforts to help them defend it.

So I just had a lovely game on Rio (silver) playing with randoms U/U. I wanted to take my claymore batarian out for a spin, and right off the bat (no pun intended) I notice everyone camping the middle room. It's the Geth and I hate them plenty with most characters, but batarians just get stunlocked to oblivion. I go on the mic and suggest that we choose one of the sides so that enemies can only come at us from one direction. Not only was I "wrong" but apparently I am also "stupid". Fine, whatever, I'll camp the room with these people who clearly are super elite (they appeared to all be friends). Waves 1-4 no problems, it's pretty easy. After that...things started to get messy. I stayed in the room with them as long as possible, but when enemies attack you from all sides (some of which are invisible) it becomes hard to hold that position. These guys simply would NOT fall back out of that room, so what happens? I end up soloing rounds 5,6, and 7. Wave 6 was 1234 objective (not fun at all). The following rounds where pretty much just a congo line people constantly going down, and again I suggested we maybe move to one side of the map (politely) to which I was met with "Maybe if you f***ing revived the team once in a while this wouldn't be so bad" ......MMMMKay! Match ends and guess who has the most revives? Well it wasn't any of them. I'm not saying this cause I'm so awesome and everyone else sucks, in fact I'm not great, and that was frustrating as hell.

So the question is, why do people hold that room? Am I truly an idiot for thinking it best if enemies have to walk down an assembly line for which we can shoot them from safety?

....so that would mean about 5% of all random matches.

is a very, very bad idea.

And even then it's a horrible idea.Eckswhyzed wrote...

Because most people are stupid. I have had a whopping ONE match in Rio where people actually played it right. Of course, it was only three of us and we all play together.

You can camp there if everyone has a mic and everyone knows what they're doing. Which has happened to me a grand total of once.
Yeah it probably didn't help that the most vocal of the group was just cussing at every possible enemy, frustrated for going down after using phase disruptor at point blank on a group of hunters and not charging or using cover of any kind. It was one of those random games to remember. D:

My mind's eye think that each time a team decides to camp there and proceeds to fail the mission, the map designers add one notch to their "Baited" count

I suppose it is the lure of the double ammo boxes. Can't help but think that this is a joke from the map developers. What other maps has two ammo crates in such close proximity?

There are two boxes in the crate area (not exactly as close as in the middle room, however.) I'm not sure if I remember right, but on gold these crates also generate 3 grenades (not too sure on platinum).

The back area of the map back with the crates has multiple ammo crates, two of which supply three grenades at a time. Holding the middle for those two crates is simply a bad idea.Tatsumaki wrote...

Super exposed, ultra-flankable, and you're almost always retreating into an enemy spawn.
I like the end down by the AA guns.

That actually does make sense. I hadn't even thought about that lol.
Update: I also just noticed a lovely profanity filled message in my Xbox messages. It was funny because the guy was literally blowing a gasket. I haven't been in games like this many times, but oh boy when it happens.
