I haven't had a Rio game where the group does not camp in the middle room. When playing Fury, I will go to the container area. However, I find myself having to run back to the middle room to revive team-mates so often I usually end up staying there.

If I remember right: the boxes in the camp-room give 1 grenade
the ammo-boxes down at the crate site give 3

If I would camp on Rio, it would be the crate site, more ammo, better cover and long sight to aproaching enemy

Is that on platinum? Becuase nothing wrong with to be in the middle. Unless you are against geth. :)

Well most PUGs can't handle it, even on gold.

Hmm.. how much longer before more people figure out that banshees can't grab you in the small alcoves of the large crates on that one side of the map? (some of them even have ammo crates in them- bonus!)

Holding that mid area is almost always a bad idea, esp vs. geth.

Doesn't camping bore people? Camping with a shotgun trying to shoot enemies from a mile away isn't effective.

That is interesting.  Must try that.

Keep in mind if ya wanna try it, you'll prob want to leave the alcove once you get her blue aura down and she can't grab anymore. If you stay in ur bound to get hit by her warp/nova attempts and those suck up close.

I'm confused. I tend to stick with Silver, and I play with randoms who generally want to stay towards the middle, so I do, too. But I have literally never once had any problem holding that area; the only fails I've had on Rio were due to the map crash bug. The people who run off to the containers usually end up needing reviving, not the other way around.

There may well be other areas that are strategically sounder, and perhaps you do get overrun on Gold easily, but I haven't found this area a death trap outside of Bronze by any means. 95 per cent of enemies are dead long before they're within 15 m of the middle, and we stray from the area maybe 30 m or so if we need to long before we get overwhelmed. I guess I'm in reverso-world or something.

I don't mean to suggest I'm better than other posters here - I'm almost certainly not - but I do wonder about the quality of random teammates some of you have had.

I've also never had a problem with it on Silver (and I'm just an average player).  Sounds like the OP's teammates for that particular match were pretty bad in various respects, though! - just the luck of the draw team-wise, I guess.

There should be a Sticky explaining that you are supposed to camp one side or the other, not stand in the middle.

The main problem is that most randoms don't have the firepower to hold the middle. Its better if you're a team of snipers to camp the 2 ammo boxes near the EZ and better if you're a shotgunner or grenadier to use the crate area.

The crate are has 2x3 grenade ammo boxes, 2x2 grenade ammo boxes (one is in the power plant area, another between the stairs). The center gives 1 stupid grenade for each of the 2 boxes.

Every time i see someone trying to hold that area vs Reapers in gold, they get supressed by Ravagers, charged by brutes who have closed in and meleed by Banshees warping in. For Geth, its even worse since they multi-fire like crazy. You can hold that area vs cerberus provided you can handle the phantoms

Not to sound elite, because as I said I'm no expert, my team was pretty bad.  The one guy who sent me the message and was cussing the whole match was playing a slayer and he would literally walk up to a Geth Prime and just Phase Disruptor it at point blank range, he rarely ever used biotic charge and just would go down over and over.  He tried it on numerous hunters to no avail, and everythig else.  The other two didn't talk as much, but they did chime in from time to time.  One was a Destroyer who I noticed was specced for missile launcher.  The other was a QMI, who I think chose not to use Arc Grenade, as I don't recall seeing a single one the entire match.

On the lower levels, bronze and silver you can easily camp, not right in the middle but near the middle but still in the upper section as long as you have one player covering the back while the others destroy all enemies from one side. I haven't played it at higher levels but i would imagine that you would indeed get squashed hanging around there.

If people are successful with one thing on lower levels it is tough for them to change tactics when they go up in level.

Point is you get nothing from standing in the center. Its designed so that you will be open for fire even in cover from both flanks and from rear regardless of how you position yourself in that central room. And if you camp there you will be attacked from both sides and usually also from either one of the flanks as well. In other words you will be screwed. You would be hard pressed to find worse places to make a stand.

I know the central room can be held in silver with randoms. I have done that several times. Thing is you are still essentially shooting yourself to the leg by staying there.
