Unfortunately, you have learnt the hard way that unless you back up your data, at some point you WILL LOSE IT. That is the nature of PC's. I've worked with them since before Windows came out (yes I am that old!!). I'm obsessive about backing stuff up. There are many decent programs out there and personally due to the low cost, I now prefer HDD's because I have had DVD's fail to restore.  And Cloud storage, well I wouldn't trust important stuff to external storage.

To prevent it again, go into your Documents folder and copy any/all of the folders there to another HD (It's worth copying the whole folder because if you use stuff like gaming mice/keyboard's etc you will find that most personalised settings are put in here, Logitech and Razer definitely do). But more importantly, your BioWare folder is in there. Once it's been copied, you need never worry again as long as you continue to back it up regularly.

You can if you want backup the Origin and EA folder's which are located inside C:ProgramData if you have Windows installed to C: However, this folder is usually hidden by default and unless your account became screwed on the server, everything should be restored if you need to reinstall ME3/Origin. The SaveGames are the main thing to worry about.

to be honst cloud storage is about as likely to fail as the entire internet is, theres always a chance but for seriously important stuff i keep it in multiple places (on the desktop, external backup drive, dvd/cd, digital vault and of course for the really important stuff hardcopied in a fire safe) but the junk like game saves i use default cloud storage and local pc saves.

as for the cloud storage its fantastic so long as you always use local files in the case of a d/c
