Bioware has already stated multiple times that ME3 is not the end of the Mass Effect franchise. That being said, what kind of game should the next ME installment be? Or do you think that they should just end the series now? Feel free to discuss.

Vote Here: http://social.biowar...52/polls/37995/

Update 1: So after 118 votes, 54% of you would like to see a sequel, 19% would like a prequel, and 19% don't want any games to be made at all. Keep the votes coming guys!

Update 2: We're 254 votes in! Here are the results:

Sequel: 55%

Prequel: 14%

MMO: 3%

RTS: 2%

I'd actually be fine with a prequel so long as it's a personal story and has nothing to do with the main trilogy. Something smaller scale, like a Heavy Rain-esque interactive crime adventure thing.

I haven't played Heavy Rain but I heard good things about it. Anyway I think your right, a small scale, one off prequel would be amazing if done right.

Something about the Krogan (with genophage cured as canon, of course).
Set in the far future, so Tuchanka is again a jungle planet and you can have crazy jungle adventures, where high tech and ancient mythology mix.

MASS EFFECT: KROGAN

Honestly, anything but a sequel. The only reason it feels like our choices in ME3 actually effect anything in the universe is because there isn't another game to write it off as nothing. Think about it, how big did the Rachni and Council choices feel in ME1? How big did Morinth, the Heretics, and the Collector Base feel in ME2? Now, think about how little they all amounted to. If we want any of our choices to matter even a little, we mustn't have a sequel.

I'd gladly play a spin off, prequel, RTS or even an MMO... but never a sequel.

I highly doubt it's about what we want, so I'm not going to bother.

Very true. To add to your point, I feel like they'd have to canonize one of the endings (high EMS Destroy probably) to make it work, which further invalidates the major choices that some of us made. Plus there's the issue of who or what the next bad guy is going to be. I'd hate for it to be "Reaper-Reapers" or something cliche like that.

Still, I would like to see a sequel made. There's enough interest in the ME universe for me to want to see what a post-war galaxy would look like. A game where you have to navigate the various political intrigues in a gritty, war torn, and factionalized galaxy would have great potential if they do it right.

Posted this in the wrong bit I think:
Sequel, set a long time after the ending, quite like to be stuck on a colony that was cut off from the rest of the galaxy having to struggle to survive, maybe developed its own sense of identity/government and their will be conflict when older powers re-emerge.
I also think a Synthetic ally would be good with a different personality depending on Synthsis(LI)/Control choice and different powerlayouts for the whole squad depending on the final outcome of ME3.

Honestly just about anything as long as it is not after the main trilogy, it would be way to hard for all the decisions to be placed into it especially the three at the end which would basically give way to three completely different games.

I kind of want to play as garrus, maybe a game as him when he's fighting mercs with his team between mass effect 1 and 2.

Or a game that covers the contact war, Id love to see how much human technology jumped forward during that time and besides it has the makings of a great story after by all means humanity should have lost but they held their own against the strongest military in the galaxy while using far less advanced technology. There's not a whole lot of specifics about that war written into the lore so it would be pretty easy to come up with a new hero, there are also several contact war heroes already.

I really want to see anything that would take place in humanity's early years in the galactic civilization

Remake Mass Effect 1 with coherent story arcs, believeable dialogue, good graphics, and versatile combat interface. The overlying story is great, but that's about it. And remake Kaiden and Ash to be less douchbag-ish/b*tchy.

Y'know I can actually see that happening. It'll be just in time for the next gen consoles too.

I can definitely see a First Contact War prequel coming out. Especially if the ME movie is ever released.

You should probably be expecting it for the ten year anniversary in a few years

I'm probably the only one here, but having played Deus Ex: Human Revolution... I want something simliar in tone for the next game. A more personal story that isn't grand or epic in scale like the trilogy, but a noir sci-fi thriller.

Youre not the only one, I played deus ex and loved it! I feel like something in the mass effect universe would be amazing! I'd bet the reason bioware didn't jump on the wave of play how you want to play games was because they wanted to finish the trilogy and hopefully now theyll try different gameplay styles, if I could choose to complete a mass effect game with stealth I would love it! And if they left squad gameplay in you could pull off ghost recon like group kills, it's definitely something bioware should at least consider

Exactly! When I played Kasumi's loyalty mission, it was practically begging for some stealth gameplay!

Though my feelings of a noir sci-fi game set in the realm of Mass Effect was spurred from Lair of The Shadow Broker's first segment when you meet the Asari Spectre and you investigate Liara's apartment. It was smaller in scope but still riveting to play.

It should not have MP. At all.

They should fire all of the writing supervisors - everyone in the chain that is considered managerial. Just fire them - clean out their desks.

Fire anyone in the company that is not taking their depression medications. This is especially true of the writers.

The game will have to be a prequel because of the ME3 endings. They are insane, disparate, and really mess the whole galaxy up.

Put someone in charge who knows the lore. Anyone who does any writing that would change the lore gets fired on the spot - NO questions asked. They should be ejected via force - face down on the sidewalk, hopefully skidding to a stop under a bus.

Whatever story you choose must not have the enemy winning and killing everyone in the galaxy! It is also bad taste to kill the hero of the story. This is pathetic and indicative of a depressed and deranged mind. Fire any and all writers that suggest it - even if the incident occurs in the breakroom.

Lastly, cargo boxes all over the entire surface of every planet, inside of every space ship - even inside of Reapers!!!! gets old. Get rid of the cargo boxes.

I certainly hope they'll never make a sequel.

I'd like a story-based game set in the pre-ME3 universe with the smaller scope and a more personal story. I still have this dream of having Miranda as a protagonist in a game with mechanics similar to Alpha Protocol. I'd also like a prequel set in the Prothean cycle.

MP games? Won't touch those with a ten-foot pole.

Where the main character sling-shots around the sun to go back in time and save the whales - the only beings in the galaxy capable of defeating the Reapers conventionally. While you're back on 1999 Earth you also have to launch a Greenpeace campaign to stop pollution and teach humans to love.

Actually, BioWare stated that ME3 is the end of Mass Effect series. But they also said they will make new games in ME Universe.

...I hope for a new RPG Trilogy which events will take place long after ME3. Also, I hope this new RPG Trilogy will reflect events of ME Trilogy, including the final choice (ME3 save import).

No prequal - It's always a sure sign of a franchise in decline once you start making prequals.(and Bioware have already done enough to declining the franchise without need help already)

I would like something ala Dragon age origins with different races to play (Humans,Turians, Krogan etc etc) and this time have the "threat" being internal rather that something that comes from the outside like the reapers, Perhaps a series of event that lead to a break up between the council races and war and chaos follows.

FPS like Halo. Better multiplayer, cut that annoying dialogue-wheel and let the auto-dialogue flow.

or

MMO, because we need more MMOs!

...I'm done with Bioware either way, but I'd love to see them pull an FPS and alienate the last fans still trying to cling on the notion that Bioware cares about them.

I'll check back here in 2 years, and see you guys defending ME4 - the FPS, saying stuff like 'look how natural the dialogue and narrative is, now that we have zero input. This is much better!'
