In DA: Origins, Shrieks or Sharlock in codex venacular were a challenging enemy that could attack you from out of stealth and deal bleeding damage that quickly stacked in groups.
But they're completely absent in DA2 and DA2: Legacy while the other darkspawn variations are still present. What happened? Did the darkspawn run out of elven broodmothers by then? Did Developers feel like the faster pace of DA 2's combat would make them even harder for players to face and therefore make them into bosses in mooks clothing? Were they unable to come up with a fitting redesign? Did they come up with a redesign and then scrap it because it was too horrific to comprehend?
Whatever happened, I was kind of sad to not see them again and hope that they appear in DA3. Next to the Ogre's, they are my favorite darkspawn.
What happened to the Shrieks in DA2?

There was an image of an updated shriek that someone fished out of the files for Legacy.

They probably held off on introducing them because 1) they weren't really necessary, as it gave more screen time for the updated genlocks and alphas, and 2) the new design looked a bit goofy.
Of course, a still image only tells part of the story — they could still have been immensely creepy, particularly if they amped up their SHRIEEEEEKS.

Here you have a different picture:

Btw. In the files of Dragon Age II, I found. Armored ogre and children model.

Surely, I can't be the only person that sees a Male Night Elf from World of Warcraft. Here you have a different picture:*Snip*
Even the stance.... Ugh. Kill it with fire!

Well, shrieks are the darkspawn equivalent of elves, so that would be fitting.

They were all sent to hunt down the female Dwarves.

I'm aware of that, but the resemblance of the stance is uncanny, practically identical. It's... Unnerving.Well, shrieks are the darkspawn equivalent of elves, so that would be fitting.
Certainly hope they're redone for future titles, i just wouldn't be able to take them seriously if that combat stance remains.

Well since there are no longer elves in DA (only annorexic Na'vi) there are obviously not going to be shreiks either.

The other darkspawn laughed at them, so the shrieks ran crying back to their Broodmother.

it would be nice to have them but then they would look like they came out of a cartoon like the other darkspawn

Until Legacy, the genlocks were absent too. Perhaps Bioware was saving them for another dlc.
I hope they return in DA3, or at least another kind of stealth enemy that likes to swarm the player (not counting assassins). They had that creepy "shriek" sound that would tell you that they were coming in Origins, but you wouldn't know where from unless you had miasma active.

I assumed the DA2 emissaries were shrieks because of their freaky pointed ears.

Same, I just assumed Shrieks turned into spell casters since the spell casters were very different than normal hurlocks.

Do you have any screen shots of them? That would be awesome! Too bad they scrapped all further DLC, judging from the level cap and the unused CD content there was meant to be a ton of DLC

There are some pretty interesting images found in the game files in this thread (includes Armoured Ogre, the Architect and the Children).
