Origin Update

Origin update is not finding ME3 servers now and not loading or verifying DLC. Just when I bought the Firefight pack and was looking forward to Operation Olympus. I could tel the update was going to f- up when the loading screen came up and it was stuttering... it has been since. Since the update, I have not once been able to log into the ME3 servers. Once again, loyal - hardcore, paying customers have to deal with the dificulities that have come about in the day and age of PC gaming... I long for the old days of Quake and other games where you did not have this DLC BS and other "in game" issues.
Save the flaming and negative feedback if your a old school PC gamer and not an 9 year old so called veteran you understand what I am talking about.
I was looking forward to the Bounty Weekend Operation this weekend also, oh well...

They were doing maintenance on Battlefield server today and I guess it did not work very well. Now we have to sit back and wait.

I will never, NEVER buy again a game that needs Origin or Steam or any of those f*cking thing.
I buy a game to play when I want to, and not when they wants to.
I wish the creators of those sh*ts be over there near me. I could torture them to death.
I'm pretty sure hackers play more easily to the game than us. Seriously!

Exactly the same here. I'm tired of this endless fight against piracy that honest players pays themselves.

Yes, well, I know that feel. I think we all know that feel. People using cracked copies play more comfortably, sure. The real issue here is the multiplayer component - cracked versions are locked out from it, so you ultimately need Origin.
And since more and more game developers realize that MP is the future (see Dead Space 3), we will either have to buy Origin/Steam/whatever games or just pirate them and be content with single player. And may I add that even though ME3 MP is pretty bugged, it is still loads of fun for me and I will not stop playing anytime soon.

I didnt buy mass effect for multi player. To be honest i avoid multiplayer aspects of games. So if the industry wants me to jump trhough hoops to play my single player purchases, they can frankly go to hell.
In that case you are right - this DRM business is getting out of hand. Remeber Ubisoft's uPlay? How they promised it will be impossible to crack. The scene laughed at them. The industry should realize no protection is uncrackable and stop this nonsense.
MP, all right. SP? No, not so much.

So, I installed the Origin update 30 minutes ago, logged in, bought and installed the Firefight DLC and wanted to start ME3. Nothing happened.
The task manager says there is an instance of MassEffect3.exe running, but it consumes only ~220K of RAM. I can`t kill the process and overmore I can`t do anything else beyond using and/or closing already running programs. Can`t start other programs, even can`t restart or shutdown...only hard reset works.
I reproduced the error several times now:
- Start Origin
- Start ME3
- Nothing happens (no icon in taskbar, nothing except a running instance of me3.exe in the task manager)
- Computer is a wreck until hard reset.
I can, however, run/close Origin and run other games without trouble, so I figure the issue might be related to ME3.
What I tried so far:
- Checked for updates (some 560 MB update for Ashes DLC was downloading)
- Repaired the ME3 install
- Un-/Re-installed Origin+ME3
Nope.
/E:
I just got it working. I can run the game by old schoole double-clicking the ME3.exe. Origin pops up, I log in and the game just starts as it should. Weird...

I tried hosting it myself, still lost connection. I hosted the game myself, played alone, lost connection again. 5/6 rounds this morning are gone to waste.
Anyone encountering something similar after the Origin update?

Well, I guess we deserve that for buying a game legally. Isn't it wonderful how we're being punished and inconvenienced with this draconian drm that treats customers like criminals? I can almost hear the pirates laughing.

I got a problem... My friends aren't appearing. I had like, 75 friends, and they're all gone now. But when I search for any friend it appears normally as if he was my friend, and then the screen pops-up when I try to invite someone for the game: You don't have any friends, try adding them... What should I do?
Got basically the same problem. Origin client crached and since then the Friends window is empty - sits and loads for a long time and eventually give that message saying ' You don't have any friends...'
I've checked the logs and see lots of errors like these:
[684] OriginServiceResponse QNetworkReply error code [203] HTTP status code [404] https://loginregistr...mes//playedTime
and
[684] Failed with REST error code -1

Not the same, but it says "An unknown error occurred" and apparently cannot get a connection to the internet at all. I tried several re-installations and FAQ solutions from the Origin website but nothing solved it. Very strange, very frustrating.
The exact same problem here. No workaround seems to work.

Mine tells me to redeem/purchase an online pass, though Origin checks out that I have purchased the DLCs (free or bought). It might be that the server is down, though it should be throwing a message that the server isn't available. I'm getting a "need to purchase a pass"

I'm getting this same issue since I updated Origin. Online chatting with customer support right now, but nothing has worked to fix it so far.
