Same problem here. I wish we weren't FORCED into updating Origin, the previous version worked just fine as it was for me.

Mine been very random since last night (uk time) friends list has managed to loose 2 people then another could see me as online but i couldnt see them.

sabina's workaround seems to be the only solution so far. Both our groups are using it to keep playing, they're meeting on their TS3 server and searching for a specific public game set up by one of them (something few people would choose). The Legion is meeting in our IRC chatroom and TS3 to get games going with the same method.

i guess this weekends operation is out, if they dont fix their server mess, i cant even get online on origin is it down ?

So i was in live chatting with EA staff about my problem for not be able to login into origin after update regarding "You must be online when logging for the first time" error and i was really pissed off when he asked me: "Did you check your internet connection?" Then i told him: "For god sake man i just chatting with you so clearly its fine on my end" and he said: "Oh then we will look into it and you check our forums for updates".

Their support is so useless.

i wish we didnt have to use origin to play, seriously life would be less stressful playing a game we love, if we didnt have problems every time they update their servers or origin and make things 10 times worse

You got lucky. Just a minute age I was trying to contact EA support about this Origin issue, but none of the contact options are available for me. This is just pathetic.

Yeah... EA failed miserably with this one... When I saw the update I was thinking "fuark" how many f*ckups are gonna be there?
I don't remember seeing on the list of updates: Chat function and friend list removed...

i wont hold my breath, communication on all these problems has been none existent, maybe i should try my hand at mind reading
