I don't think that is getting us any closer. I could look on other people profiles before, but you can't interact with those profiles in any way

Well, I tried again and am now logged in, with my friends list appearing as usual. It is pretty empty, only one person online, but it seems to work. So either the problem is fixed or you can log in if you just try often enough? I don't know.. I didn't change anything, didn't reinstall anything.

Working now from here as well, 3 friends online. It's probable people have to restart Origin to have it working, though.

I personally find it ridiculous that EA is forcing people to use Origin, even though the program isn't even done yet - There's no final version, its full of bugs to the extreme (Examples: DLC not downloadable for people, not being able to play with friends, friends disappearing, friendlist not working, etc. etc.)

If this thing were optional, sure. But forcing it unto your fanbase only hurts the company. Then again, weren't they elected to be the worst company in the US this year anyway? (That's a question btw, 'cause I'm not sure)

Had the same problem. Uninstalling then downloading and reinstalling fixed it.

P.S. Origin is garbage.

To those who might sneer at something as "non-essential" as a video
game company winning the Worst Company In America vote: It's that exact
kind of attitude that allows people to ignore the complaints as
companies like EA to nickel and dime consumers to death.
For years, while movies and music became more affordable and
publishers piled on bonus content -- or multiple modes of delivery -- as
added value to entice customers to buy, video games have continued to
be priced like premium goods.

There have even been numerous accusations that EA and its ilk
deliberately hold back game content with the sole intent of charging a
fee for it at a later date. It's one thing to support a game with new
content that is worth the price. It's another to put out an inferior --
and occasionally broken -- product with the mindset of "ah, we'll fix it
later and make some money for doing so."

New, independent game companies do pop up all the time, but the cost
of entering the market has historically been too expensive, making these
indie innovators prime targets for acquisition by mega-publishers like
EA. Our hope is that the growth of app-based gaming and downloadable
games will continue to make it easier for developers to get their
products out without the backing of companies that don't care a lick
about the people who fork over their cash.

Oh well, Worst Company In America 2012 is officially in the books. All that's left to do is send off the Golden Poo to EA.

Traditionally, the Poo has been delivered on its little red pillow.
But this year, we'll give EA three different color options for its
pillow, though in the end it's still the same old Poo.

Back to the issue I started having over a month ago then; Disappearing friends V. 1.0 
-now that disappearing friend V.1.2 caused by something bigger have been improved...

When the 0 friends non-loading friend list issue came up for me, I did a search in the Origin app for friends, found one - they were still listed as a friend of mine in their profile - sent a chat message from their profile, and boom, friends list finally shows up.
