So will have to revert back to the older version eh? Question, won't you still be forced to update before you're actually able to run the program?

You can disable the update function early in the installation! The problem is not installing the older version without updating, but rather that it doesn't seem to change much...  

Edit: Well even if you've disabled the auto-update, origin keeps penetrating you with the choice between updating itself or not being functional at all. Glad I have a choice, really...

Well, YES you can disable the update.. BUT, as soon as you log in, it updates anyway.. So thats why i wrote, if someone knows how to remove it in the programs hostfile.. I'm trying it now..

Hm, it didn't do that for me, I got a short "updating" screen, but the version didn't change... But see my other edit, I can't do much with my newly installed old origin without being forced politely to download the update... 

Edit: Ok, when I click my own profile, it actually shows all of my friends, though the friendslist says it's empty...

Well, I tried again and am now logged in, with my friends list appearing as usual. It is pretty empty, only one person online, but it seems to work. So either the problem is fixed or you can log in if you just try often enough? I don't know.. I didn't change anything, didn't reinstall anything.

Mkaay, well.. I managed to do a SUCCESSFUL rollback.. However... Even with that.. I cannot see any friends online.. BUT, if you DO want to have it rolled back (to the version with the friendslist included in Origin instead of a window), with no foced update.. Uninstall Origin, download and install the version linked above, restart your computer with NO internet plugged in or turned on for Wi.Fi, THEN install the program.. Click the "auto update" so it's toggled OFF and hit install, and then try and login.. It requires internet is says, THEN plug in the internet cable and login.. Rollback without update is done, and you can now manually try and reconnect when you want..

It's working now from here with the new version, 3 friends online. It's probable people have to restart Origin to have it working, though.

The profiles were showing up but the list was still bugged. I tried you fix and that did the trick. Just in time too with a little over 21 hours until we hit em hard.

Well, it's up now for me but only 4 online and have a couple of friends who've just dropped off my list . . . but that kept happening even with the old version. Oh well, hopefully it'll be back to "normal" the next time i log back in.

Guys stop doing R&D. Contact EA help. I just did a live chat with tech support. They asked me my registered origin email id and my first and last name (so that they can update their database). Then told me to delete game installers before reinstalling Origin and it was fixed.

Back to the issue I started having over a month ago then; Disappearing friends V. 1.0
-now that disappearing friend V.1.2 caused by something bigger have been improved...

Dude, this was done by most of us, and seeing how almost all the time tech support at live-chat just use copy-paste spreadsheets it gets redundant to keep on contacting them. Case in point, i did so earlier when this first started happening, and he had me try the same method but it didnt fix squat . . .

In reference to the saves issue. Backup your Bioware fodler in C:\\Users\\*AccountName*\\My Documents and copy and paste the fodler to a place of your location. Launch Origin, Launch ME3 and just let it delete the saves, copy the Bioware folder from your backup to the address above. Origin will freak out and say the cloud and local data is out of sync (pick the local save data to keep your saves.)

Grab yourself a beer. Mission Accomplished, N7 soldier.
