Wait, you were actually able to get past the endless loop in the Friends list section?
Eventually it times out, and gives you the charming "You have no friends!" message in your Friends List. I went to my profile, where could see the short list of my friends and games. Trying to interact with anything (like Show All Friends) then gave me the Temporarily Unavailable message. I don't know how long it takes to stop trying; I only noticed it had timed out when I came back from lunch.
Edited for grammar

Ah, yep, i left it on for half an hour and went about doing some chores that needed doing, came back and i got the same thing. "You have no friends" and the other "Temporarily unavailable" messages.
1 hour to go for Operation Olympus and no fix. Awesome. <_<

Would love to, if I wasn't getting consistently and frequently booted from matches since this began. <_<

Yep even after they "fixed" it, it's not showing some friends. Seems related to who is in game, and who has restarted Origin.
Force close and force yourself offline
- Close ME3 if open.
- Quit Origin by pressing CTRL SHIFT ESC (this opens the task manager).
- Go to the Processes tab then click on Origin.exe then click [end process].
- Now immediately start Origin again. It will say you are logged in.
- Click the "Log in anyways" button.
Mess with your "status"
In Origin, set your status to invisible then back to online, restart origin.
Do this again except set your status to away and then back to online.
(it may be that you need to change the status like this in some other way too)
Re-install Origin
if the installer lets you I recommend installing it to a folder OTHER than C:Program Files or C:Program Files (x86)
An easy place would be making a new folder such as C:Origin
==========
These steps helped me get a partial list of friends back -- your mileage may vary.

Has anyone tried installing an older version of Origin? A few months ago I was having problems logging in and an EA rep gave me a link to an older version, which worked. It may be worth trying in this case as well.
I don't have the old link, but this one should be close enough:

+1 to the "origin sucks" comments. Its bad enough I randomly lose some or all my friends, and randomly get disconnected from origin about 1 game in 10 over the past few days, but it is TERRIBLE customer service not to even acknowledge there is a problem. Something to say "guys this is fubar for some people right now, we don't know why and we're really sorry and working to fix it" would be better than SILENCE.
This whole mess plus the history of EA and copy protection mean I'm now very very unlikely to spend any money with the company in the future. Gaming shouldn't make me angry, it should be FUN. Well, EA, THIS IS NOT FUN.
Sorry for the CAPS but I'm Beeeeeeping annoyed.

It's C:\\Documents and Settings\\All Users\\Application Data\\Origin\\Logs\\Client_Log.html for Win XP users.xXdmndmnXx wrote...

Follow this....
First delete C:/ProgramData/OriginLogs/Client_log.xml first.
Then re-launch Origin and login wait for a while.
Trying this now. For those who can't find ProgramData, it's a hidden folder so enable the visibility option of hidden folders by going to Organize->Folder and Search Options->Click on 'View' Tab and selec 'View hidden files and folders'
EDIT : The directions stated are for Windows 7 OSes.
Precisely, prev version was working fine.Holy-Hamster wrote...
Yeah origin sucks, not enough to make me play XBOX or PS3 though
I dont know why they try and do "NEW AND IMPROVED" Origin and just mess everything up.
