Yeah origin sucks, not enough to make me play XBOX or PS3 though :P

I dont know why they try and do "NEW AND IMPROVED" Origin and just mess everything up.

Precisely, prev version was working fine.

^ fixed

Sorry for those having all the troubles. For those being compounded with the frustrating prompt to delete / overwrite your save game files there is fortunately a simple solution.

Click on the "more details" button for ME3 in your Origin Games Library. Click the "Cloud Storage" tab next to the "Details" tab. Make sure the "Enable cloud storage for all games" is un-checked. Should not get another prompt to delete / overwrite your local save games when starting the game after you have done that.

Edit:  Now I'm in the slow to load / non existent friends list club with you all.  Good news is I brought snacks.  Enjoy.

Was going through the Tech Support section of the forums and found this, and lo behold, this actually worked for me

Still have 20+ friends
missing from the list but my usual peeps are there (offline that is,
not exactly sure if i'll be able to see them once they come online).
Anyhow here's the link :

it worked for me too. i think, repeat, THINK, the problem with some users may, repeat, MAY, be tat before the update, they were not using cloud storage (like me), thus when the (alpha quality) update rolled around, and activated cloud storage, origin starts searching the cloud for non-existent data

Has anyone tried installing an older version of Origin? A few months ago I was having problems logging in and an EA rep gave me a link to an older version, which worked. It may be worth trying in this case as well.

I don't have the old link, but this one should be close enough:

http://forum.ea.com/...st/8640117.page

The problem with that is, after you finish installing the older version you are either forced to "update" or "go offline"

I was able to use the older version of Origin for many days before it got upgraded.  After a few cycles of that, the problem seems to get fixed in the new version.  It was a viable temporary alternative in that case, and might be one in this case too.

Cheers, that worked. Unfortunately it doesn't look like anyone on my friends list has seen it so they're all appearing as offline :(

Glad this helped out a few. You can give them the link through PMs on BSN if you have them on your friends-list here. ^_^

We see so many comments about the software bugs and issues in EA and Bioware content related to ME3.

So what does Origin do?   Origin puts out an update that loses the friends list, presents you with an option to lose your saved games, and won't sync up with the online cloud.

It's gotten to the point where I just don't see how a rational person could defend this chronic pattern of shoddy work.

http://social.biowar.../index/13610028

/edit - The link above (from a previous post)  offers a solution that got my friends list back.  Thank you to the poster.   However my saved games are still gone and Origin still has sync problems.  It also seems that I no longer have a Tools option in my Origin window.

It worked for me, I am now online...

1.)Load Origin.
2.)Load Mass Effect 3.
3.)When you get to the main menu Alt+Tab out of the game.
4.)Terminate the Origin program (Preferably from it's Origin tab).
5.)Alt+Tab back into Mass Effect 3 it will tell you it detects Origin is closed and it has to terminate, let it do so.
6.)Restart Origin.
7.)Restart Mass Effect 3.
8.)Your Friends List should now display though it seems to have a somewhat longer then usual delay.

Unfortunately most of them don't seem to read BSN and I've never found out the BSN names of most of the ones who do. I must hang around with an unsociable, paranoid bunch of people :?

Confirmed. Works for me too.

I can't express how much I loathe Origin right now. After the recent 'cosmetic and performance' update, I'm lucky if I can even get my friends list to load.

Not only does that make it impossible to play with friends, but the odd time I do connect, I have to restart again anyway because my friend isn't seeing me as online and vice versa.

This doesn't even touch on the issue of friends getting stuck 'joining game' when they attempt to play with me. It's become a nightly ritual of restarting Origin and trying to push past the 'EA server is currently unavailable' messages for all of us. If he DC's during a match, it takes us at least 10 minutes minimum to connect to each other again.

It's absolutely ludicrous. Cannot stand Origin.

Getting there! I can now see 53 friends... AND I tried with a "disappeared" friend, to BOTH log off that way, and then log back on at the same time.. Seems like it did it... We can now play! :P

I have a friend with the same problem, so now he's over 100 friends, even though it's not possible... :?

Nice ^_^

The friends i usually play with are all there on the list, if they don't come online, think i'll use the live-chat stream on your team-site once i PM them through BSN.
