Hey guys, I've been googling this like a madman and can't find anything on how to change item color. I can change the item's "tint," but that only changes the item from light blue to a washed out darker blue. I want my rogue to have black armor, and not the blue that drakeskin normally comes in. Is this possible?
And also, how do you save changes to existing items in the toolset?

I discovered a way to do it this weekend. It is not easy though and there may be an easier way. I was creating new material types (you know like dragonbone, grey iron, ironbark, etc.) and when you do this, you can specify what tint file (.TNT) to use to color it. The existing tint files are in tints.erf. You can make a new one and put it in your override folder.
In order to do this you will need to add to the materialtypes, materialrules, and TS_material tables to add your new material.

If you are wanting to change armour colours, you'd probably be better off directly editing the diffuse texture rather than messing with tints.

And how would I edit the diffuse texture of an existing item? Sorry guys, I don't understand computer stuff very well.

Nobody knows... wow, you'd think this would be a much more obvious fix...

Tints are easy once you get the hang of how what the different numbers affect, and I find it certainly easier than editing textures, although editing the textures gives much finer control over the appearance of the item.

So I open up t3_arm_irn.tnt in the Toolset and I see:
Name Value
TINT_MASK_DIFFUSE_R 0.025,0.035,0.065,1
TINT_MASK_DIFFUSE_G 0.04,0.06,0.0425,1
TINT_MASK_DIFFUSE_B. 0.1634,0.0774,0.0774,1
What do the values mean? Each tint has 3 colors so that 0.025 - 0.04 - 0.1634 is the RGB value of the first color? If so how do I know what color these numbers represent? Or is there an easier way to do this?

There are 3 different sections of armor that can be tinted independently. For example, on the heavy chainmail, the first color is the breastplate, the second is the part that covers the shoulders, the third is the color of the pants.
This is the easiest way to make new TNT files:

Scroll down to the post that says "Quick and dirty version..."
Also, don't be confused by the fact that the labels are named R, G, and B. Those are misnamed. The first color is the first line, second color second line, third color third line.

Sweet! Thanks guys I now know how to make custom tints.
Now to look for a tutorial on adding new materials so I don't override everyone else's armor.

Chains's blog is pretty easy to follow... except I don't know where to make a custom content folder? I mean where do I create the folder within the directories? Or could I simply use the Demo Tutorial Talk Table in the string editor? Is that possible?
[EDIT] You know what... forget it. I am not good enough with computers for this ****. I'll probably just end up breaking some critical game files.
