Can I re-edit a PC's face with the DA Toolset? So far, through trial and error, I have only managed to replace the PC that I want re-edited(my current avatar) with a level 1 PC with a better face, but what's the point of becoming level 1 in the middle of the game just for looks?
I have created back-up save files for both my current PC and the PC with the nice face. Thanks in advance for any helpful comments.

You can, indeed. I don't know how to transfer a character's face from one save game to another, I think you'll need a program that can edit save games. But, you can always make a new morph using the toolset and then apply that morph to your existing save game. You might actually like this option more, since there's a lot more you can do inside the toolset when making your character.
There's lots of good information and instructions on how to make a new morph here: http://social.biowar...index.php/Morph .
Once you have a morph that you like by going to "Export" and then "Post to Local", you can apply it to your savegame also using the toolset:
1) Rename the .mor file you've made (that should be in your override/toolsetexport folder) to whatever you want ("hm_new_face.mor" or whatever) and copy it into your "override" folder.
2) Open the construction set. Go to File-Open and open the "savegame.das" you want to edit (you can find it in documents/BioWare/Dragon Age/Characters/[character name]/Saves)
3) Once it's loaded you'll see a series of menus. Click the pluses to expand the "SAVEGAME_PLAYERCHAR" and then "SAVEGAME_PLAYERCHAR_CHAR" and then "SAVEGAME_APPEARANCE". Look for "SAVEGAME_APPEARANCE_MORPH_NAME" and type in the name of the file you just placed in your "override" folder. Leave the .mor part out, though. For the example I gave, you'd type "hm_new_face" in the box (without quotes). Save and close and load the save you just edited.
Make sure you back up your save first. Also, there are harmless issues with character appearance and shapeshifting in the fade section when you edit this part of the save game, but you can always open the save game, delete the morph name, and save again to solve the issues. And then once you're out of the fade, just go back and repeat the steps above to get your characters' looks back.
Hopefully this helps and I didn't mess anything up horribly- I'm definitely no expert, and new to modding as of like a week ago.

Thanks for your advice, but I found an easier method to change my face: I simply copied the Savegame_Playercharacter_Morph(or however it is called) part from the good-looking character's .das file, and replaced with it the one in my current PC's .das file. It worked perfectly! When my avatar gets updated you will see the results.

Tried doing that as well, but my current PC's save files were too big for the Toolset (9 mb). I got out of memory errors when trying to open them.

Do you mean the binary? As in, the lots of random numbers and letters when you double-click on your savegame_player_morph and expand it? Was that what you copied? I'm hoping to do the same for my character too :/

OK, I tried this but the field SAVEGAME_APPEARANCE_MORPH_NAME lists the field type as "string" but contains no data!... Both character saves (the one I want to copy from and the destination file) have empty string fields? WTF?
By the by, total noob, never ran a mod on anything that I couldn't just download and install.
TIA,
-J

@ Justin
It's the next column over from "string", in the "value" column. It may be blank if it's your first time looking at it. Just click the blank line and type in your character file name. Example ef_Elysia_female. Then save. Then load the save game that you just edited and your character should be there. Hope that helps.

Anyone have a fix for the Out of Memory error Mittandra referred to?
Basically importing your old (ugly) character's .das is not possible because the file is too big for the toolset.
Is there a way to shrink that file? Or expand the memory available to the toolset?
Thanks.

Sorry if it's a bit late, but is there a way to copy the morph string from the .das to a new morph? there are options that i have in game that i don't here, and vice versa.
And @justin/Eric, it's "binary" so it says, but it's really hex. You can't type in the box, it'll have a pop-up that you can type in, but unless you intimately know the morph system and hex, you're not going anywhere.
