Who here actually cares about the origin story of the Reapers?

It seems to be BioWare's top priority, while I personally wish they could just admit that they dun goofed and simply be done with it and move on to character DLCs or something.

Edit: Yes, I know I'm nagging a little, but the articles keeps showing up.

I do.

And if they dun goofed, shouldn't they try to fix it (with EC, Leviathan and maybe other DLCs too) instead of leaving it dun goofed?

I do. You don't want to know what motivates your greatest enemy?

That's the problem. I honestly don't care anymore. No amount of DLCs will fix it, since the very foundation of the origin story (the Starchild and the three colored light bulbs) is the problem which they refuse to fix because of their ARTISTIC INTEGRITY and all that crap.

I would rather keep Reaper´s origin and agenda mysterious than Starchild fairy-tale, but when we have recieved this *stuff* than it´s important to get anything valuable which can help you to decide - personaly I hope that with each DLC we will get more answers which will make Catalyst less trustworty and in the end you would know that he is lying moron, but there is still issue that if they allow to every DLC to has impact on story than we have recieved unfinished product, for example Leviathan´s leaked data fundamentaly again changing the meaning of endings...

I don't. I've already seen what BW can do with these formerly awesome enemies when explaining their "vast, unknowable" motivations.

A better question to ask would be why even do the DLC since we already know? We already know where the reapers came from, just not the small details. Then they go out to make a DLC about something we already know? Personally I think there is something going on and something we don't know yet. Something big.

Nope. I'm with Vigil on that one.

Surely you jest.

As for the topic, why not? Might be interesting.

I did, but preferably not in the form of DLC. I would've wanted it right inside the box. It'd make for a good story DLC, if handled properly, but I don't know. Guess I'm not in the mood for Mass Effect 3's DLC at the moment. If metacritic shows skyrocketing scores for it(Let's say, at par to LotSB), I may be intrigued enough to try.

I don't. I just wanna kill them. Could care less what their purpose or reason were. Mystery adds to the villain. Enemies you know nothing about are dangerous. Can you imagine Joker if we knew his true origin and purpose?

Your avatar. I like it.

And the reapers are what I liked (notice the past tense) most about the series to begin with. I was VERY disappointed with how they were handled in ME3, and that's without counting the atrocity at the end.

So yea, I am glad they are going more in depth. It should have been in the main game though, it feels kinda like adding a prothean as dlc.

How is the Catalysts and 3 choices the problem?

In true lovecraftian style we should never have discovered their motives, as said in ME1 we would never be able to comprehend them. This attempt to explain them is some of the reason why the end is so bad.

Really depends on the enemy.

I would like to know the origin story tbh but since the universe has been shot to hell (in the figurative sense, from a narrative standpoint) I can't find it in myself to care. The Space Kid and Kai Lame made Mass Effect a joke. It's like caring about the motivations of the Waffen SS and the National Socialist party when it turns out their leader is Ronald McDonald. It's like... really? Does anyone care why Ronald McDonald does anything?

That's a cop out. I wanted them to explain their motives/origins.

Reapers were never lovecraftian at all, not in ME3, not in ME1

Maybe Sovereign and most Reapers are just jerk (which is the case) that think they are better than everyone/thing and thus say we are too sutpid and can't understand.

Also why are still people arounf if they don't care? Try to find a better excuse, if you would not care you would not stay here as BioWare is done fixing anything related with ME3. Just accept it for the greater good.

In the next DLC we'll learn that the Reapers we've been fighting are only a rogue faction of Reapers, and the majority are completely friendly beings that totally only butchered organics and committed genocide because of self-defense.
