The wiki says it occurs on all platforms. I've already installed the silverlite mines fix before I went into that area so I don't know if it actually still occurs without the fix; I've only got the PC version of origins (and DA2), so I dunno if you actually encounter this on consoles.

The Silverite Mines bug does exist on all platforms.

Oghren's approval can be maxed if you bring him along, pick the best dialogue responses, and then give him his gifts.  Mods aren't required for 100% approval.  That does force the player to keep Oghren in their party at all times, so hopefully the player doesn't hate him too much.  http://dragonage.wik...ins_-_Awakening

Oh, OK. Thank you. I have the Ultimate Ed on 360, and the bug's never happened to me.

Funny I wanted to create a post with the exact same title!  After I put 153 hours into this game the first time around I thought it was one of best RPGs I have ever played.  Well I've recently loaded the game back up and I've changed my assessment of this game:  It's THE best RPG I've ever played!

I saw a news story stating the developers were looking for more info from fans on what they want in DA 3.   I'll tell you what you should do:  Give me more of what DA:Origins brought to the table with updated graphics and I'll happier than ****!

Bugs like the Silverite Mines bug can be avoided depending on what everyone has equipped, so it's possible for people to not notice that the bug exists in the first place.

As mentioned previously, just unequip anything that says, "restriction: Nathaniel", "restriction: Blood Mage", or any melee weapons/armor on an arcane warrior with a strength/dexterity requirement.

Hmmm... It's been a year or so, but I think I had the Howe bow equipped and that got through OK... and my Orlesian Commander was an Arcane Warrior with a sword. Both those seemed to get through OK.

I just discovered DA:O a year ago, and it is one of the RPG's that I really did enjoy. Haven't played it in awhile (long while) but it really is such a fun game. One of the few games (all of which are Bioware at the moment) that really made me care about the characters.

And you'll definitely want to play the Baldur's Gate series. I'm among those that liked BG2 better, but you'll want to play BG1 first if only to import the character you make there into BG2 (although it's not necessary). Doing that does add to the story continuity.

I've heard/read that BG1+2 is supposed to be a very good game, and - after buying it - I even downloaded some mods for it.

Will be playing it sometime in the future. It's always good to read some positive feedback on the matter. Thanks!

Glad you're enjoying DA:O - I only
discovered it last year, and it was a breath of fresh air after the kind
of stuff I'd been playing. It also introduced me to proper,
head-in-the-game roleplaying, which was very new to me at the time.

Gotta
say, my favourite origin is the mage - though some people find parts of
it boring (I'm not keen on about ten minutes running round finding
stuff for a friend... well, spoilers), I love how you get to experience
the Fade in a different light, you get the conflict with the Chantry,
and you get more context on some stuff that happens in Redcliffe. It
really is a good way to get a whole new point of view, and ties in well
with the overarching story of Dragon Age as a series so far. It really
changes how you see the world itself and how you play, and if you hate
the staff - hell, I did - you can go the Arcane Warrior route and have
the best of both worlds.

Is the Silverite Mines bug something that only occurs on PC? (Saying this as someone that's never encountered it.)

I'm sure I'll be playing DA:O at least a second time (or more) after finishing my current campaign. I had thought about playing an elven mage... actually all the origins sound very interesting.

Thanks for your feedback!

It's an absolute masterpiece of a game that deserves a proper sequel (not DA 2) or at least more DLC.

Listen to the likes of Scarlet Rabbi & Kaiser Shepard - don't let DA 2 ruin your love for this game!

I played the game 3 times through now (mostly because of making wrong decisions with attributes and that) and every time it's a completely new game.Dragon Age Origins rules!

Haha, I´m probably skilling all of those chars wrong, but, who cares? I hope that I´ll get by on easy difficulty, if things get too messy :P

Guess I should have posted this here:

I just love the squad banter between Morrigan and Alistair, it´s just great! xD
And who would´ve guessed, I wanna get to know Morrigan better, if you know what I mean :D

The
world and the story are pretty good, it´s great that there´s so much
more of it left!! I´m just ****ty at this tactics based combat -.-"
(does the difficulty have any impact on experience gained? Like in ME3
for example?).

I'm a little more into the game now, and it's still one of the most fantastic RPGs ever!

I heared that some senior Bioware people are leaving Bioware. Does that mean Bioware will only produce mainstream (non-true RPG) games from now on? Focused on PlayStation and Xbox?

PS: I bought Baldur's Gate I+II and DA:O, and I'll buy any (PC) Bioware game that has the same quality... [DA2 isn't - imho; though if it's available at a low price I'll perhaps buy it...]

I cannot believe how much depth there is to this game and how different my 3rd playthrough is to the other 2! (5 in all if you count half-playthroughs)

This is the first time I'm reading every codex and it paints such a vast picture of the world that it's superb and like a whole new experience.

I'm also gobsmacked by how different and amazing the combat feels on Nightmare, and how much some of the ambush tactics of the Darkspawn make a difference to the game. Every battle has been thoroughly thought out and it really shows - the Deep Roads is a sheer masterclass in tactical decisions.

Simply astounding.

The game is epic. Even if its on rails, there is plenty of action story, and immersion.

Love this game!

A bit envious of people playing through Origins for the first time. It really was something special, and it makes me a bit sad to see which direction they've gone in.

That said, I'd still recommend you pick DA2 up. It's no where near the same calibre as Origins, but it's still decent enough for the price you can get it now. Make sure you grab both dlcs, they are significant improvements over base DA2.

Bioware have had several games in their pasts that can be considered classics. Dragon Age Origins and KOTOR are among my favorite games of all time.

You see I'd totally advise against picking up DA:2 - for me it really waters down the DA:O experience and only poses questions or gives answers which make the DA:O experience less satisfying.

That's a great game, and that's a NWN1 lover talking, 'meaning a player who thought he would never ever play another game as wonderful as NWN1.
The story is the best I ever played as an official campaign one.
Just so immersive, like a movie. A good movie.
And the cinematics are beautiful, the characters (shapes) almost real and most of the lines simply amazing.
Better looking in the end than Oblivion, even if a Mac player, such as myself, could use all of the Oblivion's community mods (the best I ever saw)... which I can't do with these DAO's "add-ons unfortunately for PC only" ones.

Thanks Bioware, again, for that Dragon Age: Origins Ultimate edition (for Mac).
