Handled the same way most developers handle difficulty: Boost enemy damage and health, decrease player damage.
It would have been better if we kept it Gold calibre difficulty, but with random spawning enemies (unaffected by what enemy type you picked) and a random objective each round. Waves 3, 6 and 10 would require the team to complete two objectives.

But they don't coordinate. Don't get me wrong that's an excellent grouping, but the AI doesn't flood both at you at once. Instead the Phantoms always arrive first (depending on what direction your moving or if your camping ofc) and so the Hunters are easy to deal with.
If they had scripted for the Phantoms to hesitate then rush you with the hunters coming shortly after players would be far more likely to miss the hunters and take a dirt nap.

Gold is fun.
Platinum is not. It is in no way balanced for all the classes. I think platinum is part of the reason the piranha may have been nerfed. The piranha couldn't miss bosses. I hate you platinum.

Sadly the only reason any weapon is ever nerfed is because it is awesome on 1 or 2 classes and mediocre on the others. The piranha was a beast (well is still a beast) on the GI...because of that it gets nefered and now the classes it was mediocre with completely suck. You can thank the community here crying about everything for the nerfs though.

Very true, CC is not needed as much since its mostly boss mobs which are immune to most things. Its even worse though is phantoms cannot be staggered by any vanguard besides the krogard since hes the only one who can get his force above 1200.

Actually was playing gold with this group then the host switched to platinum. We had good chemestry so I said why not.
GI+ piranha
Destroyer+ typhoon and piranha(me)
Shadow+ acolyte and particle rifle
Slayer + scimitar
Took us 40 mins. I was challenged but only used 3 rockets and 4 medigels myself. Used up all my ops pals though ad one thermal clip pack.
I had warp ammo IV, AR amp III, cyclonic mod III and warfighter V.
Pretty challenging and fun at least it was for me

indeed the boss spam makes certain classes so much better. Any class may be viable but if I'm farming I want speed. If I'm doing u/u/p then that's for fun do whatever you want.Parallax Demon wrote...
With all the bosses running around, Platinum is good for any of us with a GI or a Destroyer. All other classes should stick to Gold or have a private game, so things can be coordinated before the match begins.

The problem is not the difficulty itself because I'm used to playing gold with no consumables so by playing Platinum with ammo lvl IV and other lvl III or IV consumables makes it not much more difficult that gold with nothing.
For me there are some issues with Platinum that makes it not so interesting:
- Only classes with high DPS are playable
- Mix of enemies that have absolutely no synergy with each other
- Weapons become much more important than powers (unless you are playing a biotic only team)
- You've got to have a good team playing together, since it is impossible to carry bad players like in Gold. This makes PuG almost impossible and since my friends are not available all the time, this limits the time when I can play Platinum.
