I've had quite a few quest givers say things like "you must hurry!" when it comes to how quickly they want the quest done and I'm wondering how important the time I take to do the quests is. For instance, a couple of the quests I have are family emergencies for some of my party members. Are they gonna get pissed off if I take my time? Or can I just do the quests in my journal at my leisure and ignore all the "please hurry" stuff.
Does time run out on quests?

Lots of NPC personal (& PC stronghold) quests have a start timer attached e.g. If you have Nalia in your party then you must start the keep quest within a set time or she will get upset and leave the group. Some quests can still be done later i.e. once Valygar opens the door you are free to come back any time to start the spear but others are more restrictive e.g. The Ranger quests must be done in a timely fashion or you can kiss the Ranger stronghold goodbye.

Generally speaking:
If somebody inside your party asks you to do something, you should do it in the next few days.
If somebody outside your party asks you to do something, then you can be a bit lazy about it. Exceptions here are the paladin stronghold and the ranger stronghold.
