From what I saw, Bethesda games don't let you play female characters either. Or male ones, for that matter. You just get a choice whether you want your silent, emotionless brick to have a male face or a female one.

Much as I think CDProject could use a bit more variety in their protaganist and the option to play a female character, it's not exactly a fair comparison.

CDP will out do Bethesda when they let me play a female pc and let me romance any gender I want in non-TW games. Right now CDP is below Bethesda, but not by much for me. CDP just needs to learn how to do better portrayals of secondary female characters, and to not shove an annoying redhead in my face.

"Romancing" as a minigame, or as the entire point of a game, is something I hope CDPR never adopts.

The portrayals of Philippa Eilhart, Saskia (apart from her outfit) and Sile de Tansarville were all very good.  I like Triss as a character as well, and you don't have to "romance" her, just **** her offscreen once.  Geralt's friends are his friends, that's part of his character.

Are you saying the game forces you to bone this woman? Really? I sure hope not. Which game is it?

Sile, Saskia and Philippa are primary characters, not secondary. Characters that where well written(though Saskia's character design was horrible)

Also don't get me started on Triss, just don't. I've already stated my distaste for her and how CDP has made me hate her alot many times, that type of convo is not needed here.

Well someone's cranky.  How am I supposed to read your mind and know what you consider "primary" and "secondary"?

Never mind.

The Witcher 2 opens with Geralt in bed with Triss.  I don't suppose they were playing parcheesi the night before.

They are long-time friends, long as in before Witcher 1 even begins, and you don't have to consider them anything more than **** buddies.

Fixed my post. Sile, Saskia and Philippa are primary because not only are they involved in the main story, without them, the story would change ALOT, plus laot of things would not happen and the main conflict would have probaly never happen. Sure Philippa does not show up depeding on what path you pick but her presence is still there and you know she played a hand in the events, Saskia I can't say anything because it would have massive spoilers but you know ;)

What?  That's not true, if you're a female character in Fallout 3, you can convince Burke not to blow up Megaton by hitting on him.

Even that's too much. I don't have 2 though, thankfully.

Being a Leliana hater, I can sympathize.

I don't really understand the aggro people give because story-driven games have a male lead. I suppose people don't read books with male lead characters?

Theres a diffrence between books and an rpg, it also goes with how the PC is. Example I loved Jensen and D.C in Dues EX and Dues Ex:HR. I really didn't care for Geralt in TW and TW2, but I felt I had more freedom with him in TW. Overall my dislike for Geralt comes from the books, not the games.

Not exactly. Differentiations involved with playing a male or female is more noticeable in a BioWare game.

There isn't much of a difference between male or female Shepard or Hawk and femHawke. The biggest differences are who you can have sex with and well that only applies to ME3 and not DA2.

Pretty much. Minor differences but still different from a Bethesda protagonist. I don't think that makes BioWare better by any means though.

you can think it was a stab at me3's ending but you would be wrong. In the video interview they were comparing two different possibilities of the witcher 2's ending and showing that the scenery was in fact two different colors one being pretty and peaceful and the other being war torn with a red sky. The point they were making was that there is more to the different ending than a simple change in color.

If they said that after the ME3 controversy then there's no way its not a reference to it. Plus they have a record of similar statements.

No it wasn't. Believe it or not CDProjekt was talking about how different the ending can be bsaed on your decisions in the game not Mass Effect 3.

I dunno, I thought the different colors comment may have been a jab at Bioware. Could be wrong.

Ha, ha; it was an OBVIOUS reference to ME3 ending... but whats the problem with that?

When every jackass was complaining over the net about it, suddenly CDP should restrain from comments themselves? Morroain, give us a break...lol

Bioware is guilty ten times from false advertising and hiping (DA2, ME3, etc) for the sole purpose of milking their old fan base, they deserve each and all of the jabs they get..., specially if the other party is delivering (like CDP DOES) and not just talking out of their ass.

FIrst of all, they didn't change the ending, because it didn't need changing unlike another.
Second, most people liked the ending (as in no one is going to seriously say it was a thematic and illogical mess), what most didn't like was that Act 3 was too short, which they rectified by adding several hours of gameplay, not altering anything.
The additions are simply to expand on what was already there, because no one said that Act 3 was fundamentally flawed.

It's supposed to be a silent, emotionless brick in a sandbox game. You have to add the character.

If you want your character to be male or female, obviously it's nice to be able to make a male or a female brick!

Fallout 1 and 2 would like a word. Sandbox games can have characters with emotions.

Well I have to admit, Bethesda games do tend to be a little light on dialogue, to the point where you are defining your character solely with your actions. I still think the model works and makes sense, but I would prefer a bit more meaningful dialogue and some choices. Wouldn't take it as far as saying you don't play male or female characters though.
