This thread is a compilation of gameplay tips (that came from your own experience) in Mass Effect 3 Multiplayer, please feel free to contribute to help community improve their skills

W.E.A.P.O.N

_It is a good choice to bring weapons that can cause stagger against infrantry  (Geth Plasma Shotgun, Falcon, Scorpion)

_Aiming will increase your accuracy (tighten spread) but also increase recoil, hipshot is less accuracy but less recoil

_AOE weapon like Falcon, Krysae, Scorpion sometimes are better when aiming at the ground then directly at enemies. Especially Faclon since it can bounce and hit enemies behind cover.

_Its highly recommend to aim at the ground with the Cobra then aim directly at enemies.

_Reload cancelling save your time and increase your DPS. The method involves you using a power or medigel or melee to cut off the long animation of reloading, when the ammo counter shows that your ammo has been refill, instead of waiting for the animation to finish, use a power, medigel or melee or a combat roll, anything that can interupt your current animation. For PC player, you can remap the medigel button to E for cheesy.

_You can use your power and firing the Reegar at the same time.

_Always use AP mod for fast firing weapons if you dont plan to equip AP ammo

_Don't underestimate Acolyte. It can strip shield of multiple enemies in one shot and then you can send them flying with your biotic

_Weapon like Geth Plasma Shotgun, Graal Spike Thrower, Falcon ignore armor so dont use AP mod on them.

_Certain weapons have bonus against different type of defense but also receive penalty. Ex: Reegar deals 200% damage against Barrier/Shield but only does 50% damage against armor. The Acolyte deals a whooping 500% damage against Barrier/Shield. Krysae deals 150% damage against Armor.

_When lock-on an enemy with Geth Plasma Shotgun, it will tighten the shot and slightly track moving target.

_AP mod and Extended Clip work well with rapid fire weapons. But certain rapid fire weapons does more damage against armor with Extended Barrel mod than AP mod when used by certain characters. Ex: Cerberus Harrier with weapon specialist classes and gear.

_Certain light weapons combo like Eviscerator X + Carnifex X is good for caster classes like Engineer/Adept. There is minimal difference between 180% and 200% CD.

_Charging weapon like Graal, Acolyte, Geth Plasma Shotgun can be charged and shoot while sprinting

O.B.J.E.C.T.I.V.E

_During Pizza Delivery Objective. Moving backward and sidewalk are faster than normal walking. Some classes like Krogan and Vorcha can use their heavy melee for faster delivery.

_At least one person should watch the LZ where you drop off your pizza in case of it getting swarmed with hostiles.

_In Hack Objetive at wave 10 of higher difficulty, it is a good choice for someone to break the group and lure the mobs away. Or you can nuke them if you have plenty of rockets, try to group them into big packs.

_Capturing 4 Objectives: Position yourself in an angle that safe from enemy gunfire if possible (behind cover)

_Target Eliminating: Quickly identify the target and inform your squadmate (If its a big unit or small) so you dont have to waste rockets for it. Aim for the ground to shoot your rocket, rocket tend to go through big enemies.

_Drone Objective can be a cakewalk in small map like Glacier, White, Jade.

_4 Objectives can be a pain in the ass in map like Dagger, London, Condor when the device is placed in open area, so tread carefully.

M.A.P

_Taking cover provide you damage resistance and also increase your accuracy (reduce spread)

_The ramp of doom is the bane of instant-kill (Yes, **** you Banshee, **** you Phantom). Position yourself in a different altitude with the Enemies (either a higher position or lower one) will make you immune to instant kill

Posted Image

_If hard cover is not enough then create soft cover. Indoor map like Glacier/White or map with lots of cover like Rio, Vancouver. Position yourself so enemies will hit the wall.

As you can see the Atlas cannot hit me at all so he will be forced to move up, you that precious time to unload everything you have to his face

Posted Image

_If you see an enemy taking cover behind a small object, its a good chance for you to show him how horrible it is to be instant-kill, quickly jump into the opposite side and grab that mofo (Doesnt work on Phantom).

_Instead of walking toward the ladder, you can do a side roll/step to get down quicker.

_Enemies who hind behind thin cover can be take down with weapons that have AP mod or using AP ammo (recommend for Sniper).

_Geth tend to advance slowly into your position instead of flanking you, so they are easy targets to grab in map with lots of low cover.

_Small maps like Glacier, White can be easy in higher difficulty due to Bosses overcrowded and they stuck at certain place

P.O.W.E.R

_When using power that doesnt require lock-on (Proximity Mine, Grenade,...) you can hit the Phantom without letting her put up the barrier by not locking on her (yes doesnt point at her and aim for the ground)

_Some powers have really big radius and can hit through cover, or even hit the guys in the next room. Ex: Arc Grenade, Snap Freeze,...

_Slayer and Fury can use their dodge to move quickly through ladder and obstacles.

_Don't underestimate powers like Concussive Shot or Pull, it can render small group of unshielded trooper incapaciated and stagger shieled one, allow you to catch a breath during intense fighting.

_If your teammate hit a Warped enemy with Overload or Energy Drain, dont be ******, instead of recast Warp, trigger the tech burst with your detonate power and do it again to trigger the explosion (Overload/Energy Drain put doesnt overwrite Warp, it just put another combo layer on top of it).

_Justicar Bubble sometimes is bugged if you are currently lock on an enemy so aim for the ground in order to deploy Bubble

_Instead of putting all your points into damage evolution, try some build with team synergy. An AOE Tac Scan can provide your team with environment awareness and increase team survival. A duration Infiltrator can help capturing objective and revive better than a damage Infiltrator.

_As an Ex-Cerb Operative, spec your Smash power to synergy with your team power. Ex: Electrical smash for Tech Team, Biotic Smash for Biotic team.

_Tech Combo can be triggered by Biotic. Ex: Overload -> Throw = Tech Burst.

_DOT Power like Inferno Grenade, Reave is a good choice for hit and run tactic.

_As a Shadow, break enemies line of sight before Shadow Strike or they will turn around and bash you in the face.

_Novaguard can do a trick called nova-cancelling with involves using a nova and before you hit do a combat a roll, it will gain you a few seconds of invincible.

_Ballistic Blade + Inferno Grenade make Batarian Soldier a truly anti-infrantry class, they can take out group of troopers with ease. Ballistic Blade -> Inferno Grenade -> Shoot a little bit -> Run -> Boom -> Survived enemies get killed by DOT.

E.N.E.M.I.E.S

_A Phantom's Barrier is annoying as it blocked most projectile power but it can also be her doom. When she put up her barrier, she is vulnerable to gunfire, so you can trick her into putting up her barrier and unload your shot to her.

_Phantom's cartwheel dodge is frustrated when you try to shoot her BUT when cartwheel, she is vulnerable to your projectile power effect, you can hit her at this moment with power like Warp, Incinerate,... without worrying about her putting up the barrier. Lash, Concussive Shot, Pull or even certain heavy melee can ragdoll Phantom.

_Banshee's deadliest weapon is her totally random Instant-kill, you dont know when and you dont know how, so keep your distance and stay together with group. But what happen if you managed to negate her instant-kill with the help of the almighty ramps? As a Krogan Vanguard, you can tank 2 Banshee (in Gold) why staying on a ramp or stairs

_Banshee's 2nd deadliest weapon is her warp-ball. It travels and hit you from nowhere. BUT if you take cover as the ball travelling to you. Im sure that it will miss 90% even though it shows the effect of getting hit on you, you won't lose any health

_In Gold difficulty, trooper units like Marauder, Centurion are the most danagerous and should be exterminated first avoid big enemies as much as you can

_Ravager is deadly if let alone so kill them quick.

_All Enemies instant-kill, except the Banshee involves them attacking you first with a melee then they will connect it with the sync-kill animation, if you managed to avoid the 1st melee attack then keep your distance from it. Even if you get hit by the melee, you can still escape by doing a combat roll/side step away from it.

_The Geth lack sync-kill, but their DPS is the highest among all factions couple with their stun-lock made them a formidable enemy in opening map.

_Geth Hunter is a dangerous sneaky bastard so watch your back.

_Geth Prime can snipe you from across the map so take cover. He's a walking auto-cannon.

_A shieldless Pyro can be takedown by shooting at their gas tanks or a headshot with a weapon that can penetrate through cover (it will ignite the gas tank behind them and boom). Alternate you can use a high caliber weapon like Widow, Black Widow  headshot will not only knock down their shield but also ignite their gas tanks at the same time.

_Swarmers are deadly at higher difficulty, especially in group. Don't try to step on them if you are glass-cannon classes.

F.A.C.T.I.O.N

 - Cerberus:
  • Asari Adept/Vanguard with Stasis specced for bubble are savior here.
  • Scorpion/Falcon/Krysae turns Phantom into a joke.
  • Atlas is slow and vulnerable to fast moving and circling tactic so exploit that. Or you can avoid them and take care of the troopers first. Watch out for their rocket.
  • Don't underestimate other troopers they can kill you quick in higher difficulty.
  • Watch out for Nemesis, they can take down shield quickly.
  • Never let the Engineers have time to deploy their turrets, weapons with AP mod can blow up their backpacks and kill them.
  • Turret are doomdaydevice dispatch them quick.
 - Geth:
  • Bring classes with ability to trigger and combo tech burst with each other. Geth Engineer, Demolisher, Salarian Engineer.
  • They advance slowly into your position while keeping pressure with their Rocket Troopers, Geth Prime
  • Watch out for Geth Pyro and Geth Hunter, lot of teams got wiped because of these bastards.
  • Its a good choice to move from cover to cover and always watch your back.
  • Bring the Reegar, it can save your lives from Pyro and Hunter that catch you off guard.
  • Use disruptor ammo.
  • Geth are Synthetic so Sabotage will be extremely useful.
 - Reaper:
  • Against Reaper its a smart move to keep your team together and mobile, camping must be avoided (except the hacking objective) because Banshee and Brute can flush you out and you became easy target for Marauder and Ravager.
  • Marauder is OP so kill them quick.
  • A Krogan Vanguard specced for full durability can tank 2 Banshees by standing on the ramp and position himself safe from instant-kill
  • Another tactic to fight Reaper is 1 skilled Infiltrator go lone wolf and takedown Ravager, Marauder with hit and run, while the rest of the team stick together and take down Banshee.
  • Brutes are vicious up close but they are easy target to take down.
  • All Reaper are Organic so they are vulnerable with debuff from Concussive Shot, Frag Grenade
  • One of the best way to defeat Reaper is assembling a team that can dish out lots and I mean lots of damage. Ex: 4 GI + Piranha armed to the teeth with Amp and IV AP ammo (Nerfers Rage), Asari Justicar + Fury + Asari Adept (Stasis Marauder) + Ex-Cerb specced for biotic Smash, 4 Demolisher (KABOOM)
O.T.H.E.R

_If getting hit by Banshee Warp Sphere and losing your shield while having only 2-3 bar of health left, use an ops pack immediately (if you have lot of them) or run to a nearby friendly Geth Turret and hope it will heal you
(it will cancel the DOT immediately). Alternate you can run into a nearby supply pylon (if you not in one) and it will recover about 30% of your shield (usually it enough to negate the DOT). As a class that can refill shield (Salarian, Vanguard) use that power immediately it will also cancel DOT and save your Health.

_The shieldgate mechanic can be abused against slow shooting enemies (Atlas, Geth Prime, Banshee) in order to land multiple hit.

_The faster you finish the Objectives, the less enemies you have to fight.

_Take a 5 mins break between every match.

_Making friends helps you improve your skills and fun.

_Score is not important so stop worrying about racking up your score, ITS CREDIT THAT IMPORTANT

_Krogan Vanguard with Cyclonic Modulator IV and Shield Booster V is nearly immortal, stand on the stairs or ramp to lure enemies like Phantom and Banshee.

Please contribute your tips. Thank a lot

Very nice!

You should take note of Banshee's biotic jumps, when near to an entry way with thin walls, say Glacier's corridor and LZ area, Banshees can jump through the wall like no-clip hack. Best to round large corners, though based on situations.

Small note. Despite being on low/waist-height cover, you can lean towards the sides by holding left or right (if not blocked by other obstacles) and aiming down sights. Useful for certain situations, or if you want to aim around a corner and shooting from the top isn't the best choice at the point of time.

Please explain, what you mean by this. What does the shieldgate ( cancelling out the damage of massive blows ) have to do with my Rate of Fire? I am pretty confused by this.

Otherwise: Appreciate your works and hopes it helps someone.

class with fast shield recharging (like Geth) can abuse this. For example you took a shot from Atlas and it break your shield, since enemies cannot ignore shieldgate from players, your health is save, you take cover and wait for your shield to restore, but you dont wait for it to restore completely, just when the shield start to recharge, you pop ur head out of cover to attack them. But dont use this tactic against troopers, since their attacks are mutiple burst shot instead of single shot.

Some good rules of thumb:

- Call out missiles. Alternate usage between teammates to avoid multiple shots.

- Before entering a game, attempt to find one person in the lobby to pair with and take a complementary character to maximize synergy.

- Let people know when you're going to fall. Especially important when playing on higher difficulties.

- Alternate between ammo boxes and using thermal clip consumables. Sometimes it is better to have an instant full reload than just a clip or two.

- Try to create a path through the map that will allow you to maintain pressure on the enemy whilst allowing you to reload at ammo sites

- Sometimes, retreat is the only viable option. Always have an escape route.

- Never leave your wingman.

1. Newly buffed Particle Rifle with Thermal Clip gear, Insandienry and Destroyer melt everything on gold.

2. A build which no one tries: Shockwave Human Vanguard is more defensive and offensive than Novaguard meaning he will die less yet he can detonate all sort of combos. Try him with Fury on Glaciers and Incendiary rounds and you will know what I mean. Of course his Shockwave and Charge needs good cooldown.

3. Acrolyte pull-charge, pull-reave and singularity-warp is the fastest and strongest combos in the game.

4. Palladin Shield Bashing, his light melee can even block Prime's Melee and effectively tank like a boss. Its melee is as strong as krogan's heavy melee and executed quickest of all melees.

Against Reapers shoot the Damned Ravagers FIRST as they appear and not at Brutes / Banshees. I know those 2 are scary and you just want to shut the Banshee up, but trust me, Ravagers first.

Cerberus ; Phantoms travel in packs. Be smart and beat them with a pack of your own.

Geth; Primes are slow but with Range, split it from support by killing its follower mooks first, than deal with it as a team. Even if you are a Destroyer with a Piranha X.

Don't forget this tip: If you have a demolisher team or just one person with that class and the enemies are close, just spam nothing but arc grenades because it stuns them for a few seconds

Briefly press the melee button to grab an enemy over a low cover (e.g. a counter) and sync kill them. All non-boss infantry units can be grabbed. When you are sync-killing, you are immune.

Hard cover grants 40-50% damage reduction. Enough to save you from a grenade.

When reloading, press the medi-gel, sprint, cover, or roll key after hearing the first click to perform a "reload cancel". It significantly reduces the reload time. (Does not work on particle rifle)

If a Geth Pyro has no shields or about less than 20% shields, snipe the fuel tank to explode it.

Throw detonates all combos, not just biotic ones

Cryo/Disruptor/Incendiary Ammo can prime tech combo.

Instant hit powers cannot be blocked by phantom or banshee, also cannot be dodged by anything else. Drawback is you can't arc them behind cover.

http://social.biowar...822648#13558922

Do not attempt reviving if there's a banshee floating over the body. You'll just help sync kill the victim.

Tell the downed player you are coming to revive him.

There is usually enough time to pull out the missile launcher and fire it when you see someone else getting sync killed.

1) Acolyte can be charged while using a power.

2) Justicar Bubble: If your target reticule is red (i.e. enemy in your sights) you won't be able to cast the bubble. Aiming at the ground when you cast will avoid this bug.

3) The Falcon and Krysae are proximity charges. You can aim over cover and they will explode in the air above/behind enemies. No bounce or direct hit required.

4) My krogans always tries to heavy melee banshee warps to take advantage of their HM animation's 50% damage reduction.  Even if it doesn't work it's better than just standing there and taking it.

5) Use krogan heavy melee when you're doing a pizza delivery.  You will go faster and you will get damage reduction while you do it.

good tips. here are a few form the top of my head

banshee warp

shield restoring powers cancel this effect. things like activating dev mode (destroyer) Energy drain, adrenaline rush, AF with shield drain evolution etc can cancel the warp effects

Vorcha with bloodlust active negaest anything a banshee can do to you except the OHK. basically a banshee cna't kill a vorcha on a ramp by itself

The kroguard is the most invincible character in the game.

If you're sprinting and then tap the melee button, you'll do automatically do a heavy melee even if you didn't hold the button.

You should always bring a slow-firing heavy weapon and a light fast-firing weapon to deal with different situations. Read that in a loading screen, so must be true.

If look around a corner and see a small army that is too spread out for one missile, roll back and get in cover then call it. Not the other way around unless your lifeless body is a better warning.

When using the hurricane, If it has an odd amount of ammo(because of mod/char ability) it won't reload automatically when empty. This is because it fires 2 rounds at a time and won't fire the odd round so it won't actually be empty.

If there is a turret using ally(or you are one) look at the turret to tell you where the enemies are. Also throw turret into an area before you go in. It will tell you where the enemies are and save you being surprised.

You should include methods of reload cancelling in the reload cancelling point, powers, medigel etc.
