Do people think that the Typhoon is actually a good gun anymore?

I sure hope BW keeps its nose out of the MMORPG business, because nobody has sucked at balance this bad since Dark Age of Camelot. And as I recall, that didn't turn out too well.

This pisses me off so much. I loved the typhoon. Machine guns are so much fun. But this thing is just not worth it. It's got a giant pile of negatives and the positives don't make up for it. For being so rare, so heavy, making you so vulnerable, and chewing through its ammo supply so quickly this thing should be among the best dps in the game.

Google Star Wars The Old Republic.
They already tried the whole mmo thing...and it failed...big time.
much for the same reason that ME multi is also losing players - persistent bugs, and poor balance decisions which seem to show a lack of involvement on biowares part.
almost like like they expect anything they release to automatically be gold with little/no followup support...regardless of whether or not they actually have any experience in what they're releasing

When you consider the fact that the Particle Rifle can destroy the highest HP unit in the game on a setup optimized primarily for utility with damage as a secondary concern, whereas the Typhoon probably could not (i'd need to go test it, but I sincerely doubt it) it's not so "ludicrous".
The Particle Rifle has only one of the same drawbacks as the Typhoon which is the warm up time. It's relatievely lightweight for it's DPS potential (1.4, same as Saber, Graal, GPS) unlike the Typhoon. It has no recoil, unlike the Typhoon and perfect accuracy which means your theoretical DPS is often a reality. With a Typhoon, you're constantly going to ammo crates because it burns through ammunition. Not a problem with the Particle Rifle, and if you're really good with it, you don't even have to suffer through a reload animation.
Yeah, the Typhoon is inferior.
You forgot to mention the part where the particle rifle has the same clip size but does harrier level damage every shot part shot #30
It actually does more damage than the Harrier at full power.

So I got the Typhoon last night after posting in thread and asking questions about the gun. I tried it on several characters throughout the night and my impression is that a lot of you are severely overreacting. Perhaps its simply a case of "I don't miss what I never knew" but I think the Typhoon is by far the best AR in the game right now. As much as people think this gun is now only useable with the Destroyer & Demolisher, I think they are dead wrong. Absolutely wrecked it last night with the Justicar and Turian Soldier.
I am glad you enjoy using it, but there is no overreaction - the gun went from being awesome to being just maybe better than the revenant ( in my testing they are about the same, but Typhoon a hell of a lot heavier ). Also imo, the harrier and particle rifle are a lot better than it because they take out everything other than an Atlas better.
btw, what the hell is the cooldown on reave on the Justicar with Typhoon?
All my experience on the Typhoon is on gold.
If they wanted to tone it down a little bit then fine, but they went way too far for a ultra rare gun to be slightly better than a rare.

Beautiful. Now play it on gold or platinum and see how much fun it is to have to spend a second and a half exposed to insanity-level damage before it starts doing respectable damage of its own.

How long does the Harrier take to bring down an Atlas?
Not enough bullets.

Justicar w/weight reduction @ 4 and 6 of training + Typhoon 1
Reave w/Recharge Speed evo rank 5 - 3.81 seconds
with power efficiency mods its 3.64, 3.48 and 3.33 @ 60, 70 and 80% CDT
That said, without efficiency mods the synergy between weapon and powers is perfect. Shoot Typhoon to strip shields, Pull, reload then Reave. The Pull CDT & Typhoon reload times synergize perfectly.
I was actually very surprised at how effective this setup was but I've always used the Saber with the Justicar so I knew heavy ARs worked with her, I just didn't expect it to work well @ 50% CDT.

I was playing Gold and 150k while soloing wave 10 is all the proof I need.

Reave
Typhoon crap mode 1.5s
Typhoon good dps mode 2s

Seems like a great tradeoff! </sarcasm>

PPR: Weighs much less, does more damage, doesn't need ammo, has zero recoil. Pretty much better in everyway possible...
They nerfed the balls off the Typhoon... I see no reason to ever use my Typhoon X again. Big thanks to the guy on PC who posted the solo video of him raping Atlases/Banshees in less than 1 clip. Gun wouldn't be what it is today without ya!

OK then, yet another elitist who completely dismisses setups without even trying them. You can keep whining while I'm wrecking Gold with my crappy setup.

@buckshot- that is actually a great idea, she has that wt reduction for assault rifles. But I'm going to try it with the particle rifle- more accurate and it weighs less. I had great success vs phantoms with the particle rifle, but that's another thread
If I had the Particle Rifle you can bet I'd be trying it too! Let me know how it works out...... or don't because then I'd just be jealous

I think the Alliance is using recycled LMG stuff from the WWII.
