I've looked at the pictures again with my changable indoctrinated eyes and all I see is...
humanoid figures trying to hunt a giant squid, we still have those. nothing new.
That figure is definitely not a giant squid, it consists of geometric lines same as a reaper or some other machine, a squid is natural ergo consists of organic lines, even cave men would take this into account when they drew it because they only know organic, an unnatural machine like a reaper or the leviathan(which ever it may be) would have stuck out to them so much so that it would have shown in their painting,
My personal theory is that it is a reaper and these cave men or Asari or whatever they were were either hunting a reaper or discovered a reaper while on a hunt and discovered the leviathan to kill the reaper or had been worshipping it and released it upon the reaper
bro that was me being stupid. *facepalm*
I know it looks like a reaper, check my other posts.

I think it will actually tie into the Sha'ira trinket quest somehow.
This would be really cool but i doubt it.

Crazy wako theory with borderline zero evidence: Asari are the distant offspring of the original reaper race. Look at a Reapers shape and look at an Asari's head. Either the Asari evolved from the reaper species or they were created by them. Bam.

This giant figure is a Stone Age version of synthetic creature. He rebelled against his creators (Stone Age asari), so they fight him. Reaper is there to oversee this eternal conflict between organic and synthetic life.
Edit: Ooooh, I feel artistic. And integral.

The huge thing on the right of the painting is leviathan. He never got put in a shell and so you see his "organic form". So the long arms that go all the way down to the ground and thick body are leviathans features.
Least this is what I believe to be true. He might have been put in a reaper shell but broke out I dunno.
Huh? "Organic form" please explain, because now I'm picturing a giant the size of a skyscraper crawling out of a broken Reaper.
Human reaper. That goes inside the Reaper you see all over the place. Those are just shells. The actual reaper takes on the shape of the species that forms it. So the leviathan reaper would contain in it a robot thats made of the leviathans that looks like the leviathans.
Basically put. Each Reaper is a Kinder Suprise.
Thank you. I'm very well aware of Reaper "biology"(can you call it that?). I my self see them as layers. An outer layer, the squiddy one and the inner layer, the "organic form".

you mean this sphere / relic ...

could be the relic found on Kopis (Prothean site)...

...which then shrinks to a smaller size...

...and later can be seen in Shepard's cabin table?
(even smaller, when touched it vibrates and changes size)
it could be or not, many of those relics / spheres have been found all over the galaxy.
but then again we shall see when we play the DLC.

Anyone who isn't interested in learning the reapers true origin are missing a big implication: MORE REAPERS AND MAYBE A CONFRONTATION WITH HARBINGER!!!

Since thats the same painting style as the Asari's I'm going to assume that those aren't humans in the drawing, thus Leviathan is not on Earth. But it might be on Thessia... god knows we need more content on that planet. Or at least it might of visited Thessia at some point in the past. Those silly blueberrys already have a ridiculous past of alien intervention may as well have more.

Clearly the Asari's ability to meld with other minds is an evolution of the original Reapers' indoctrination.

I had a similar thought the other day,
but my mind just dismissed it,
now I read your post and I need to rethink this.

wow.
you truly have an eye for pointing out interessting things.
I think is likely that they integrate the ME 2 sidequest into the Leviathan story.
The sphere was often talked about on the BSN.

Well, considering that the reaper indoctrination utilizes sound and mechanical impulses, it's unlikely that it "evolved" into mind melds, but If you take into consideration, the Prothiean memory chit and their inate ability to sense others memories just from DNA traces in a room, then we're talking 'evolution'.. They did admit, through Javik, that they tinkered with the Asari as a 'pet project' in their cycle...hmmm
