I wish they'd just make sure the Slash powers don't go through walls. That way they have to get out into the open - And since the powers doesn't allow them to activate it while in cover.. Well.. You do the math on that one.

I bet it would be funny, too.

then it would just be a useless power if it coldn't go through walls

Powers like this should be subject to a cover penetration mechanic similar to the widow or AP mods on guns.  50% damage loss through cover / walls ought to do the trick.

I removed Biotic Slash from my Slayer and only have 3 points of Electric Slash in my Shadow. I did that because these powers are boring to use.

Smash wasn't as boring because the range was lower and the activation time was much faster, so you could use it out in the open successfully, and it's usefuless through walls was reduced a bit.

Hitting enemies 30m away through a wall with a Slash power removes any challenge, making it a very dull match.

Slayer already has a ranged power, namely Phase Disruptor, so it could be swapped with a less offensive power that helps set-up biotic detonations or has support effects.

Shadow could lose Electric Slash and still be a top-tier offensive class due to Shadow Strike, so replacing slash with a debuff or defensive power could work.

Or they can change the way the Slash powers work, so that spamming it through a wall is not the only optimal use.

And people wonder why people hate nerfers?! This is a prime example. I'd like to see some "balacers"/"Nerfers" helping put the kabosh on bad ideas like this.

"OH MAH GAH!! POWAH ANNOYIN'!! NERF IT!! NERF IT DEAD!!!" which is basically all this nerf attempt ammounts to, and no it's not a good reason.

I tell you what, if you don't like a power that goes through walls, -you- play the class as if the power didn't go through walls. No cover penetration, no wall penetration, you're out in the open. See how long you last, and how much you like it.

Don't ask us to do something you wouldn't do yourself. 'z just being an ass.

I love watching people warp out to assassinate something with the shadow on platinum.  I can't even count to 5 before theyre dead.

This is just a "STOP OUTSCORING ME" thread.

Which is why i like having a weapon with some range on my shadow. It's so I can harass spawns, and kill from afar until the enemies spread out a bit.

Even cloaking first, I'd prefer to have the enemies spread out a bit more before I start assassinating since I've noticed enemies look at me while I deliver the slash, even if I cloak first.

"If someone disagree with me he is stupid", taht's quite nice.

The "Don't like it, don' use it argument" doesn't work when it comes to balance there is an intended challenge level that must be kept.

This would be relevant if I were using either one of those stances?

There's no merit to this nerf cry. It's just "It's annoying! NERF IT!" which is not a valid reason.

I'm simply stating that a person should understand a power they're trying to nerf before they try and nerf it. They should use it, and see how it works, and what it'd be like if they got their way.

Last week another Slayer and I were doing this exact thing. However, we were side by side each other and in sync. It looked like a ballet. Our pirouettes were exquisite.

I'd rather have a spammer/camper over somebody who requires constant carrying/reviving. If they want to play the game using one button, by all means, go right ahead. As long as you aren't making my job harder, I don't care what you do.

is this really about the power or is it about getting a lower score than them

because all they have to do is fix the screen when the power is used

It is effective and a life saver at times in non farming games but it is also annoying as heck.

I don't farm. And I see this in non-farming matches all the time. I'm not trying to tell people how to play the game, just making fun of them for it:) Freedom of Speech YO. I don't understand why you people stand up for this play style. I enjoy playing this game with other people that play the game WELL. I do NOT care if I am a high scorer. I'm a very visual and technically minded person at the same time. I don't just play a game for credits. I enjoy watching the game that I am playing. Like its a movie or something. I like seeing when a Slayer dominates using his entire ability set to its best. I like seeing Furys blow shart up with biotics. It's just FREAKING boring and annoying seeing this BS-ES overused all the time. But then again, I guess shooting the gun is overused as well, eh?

This is a farming run. I see nothing wrong with move spam during a blatant farming run.

I'm not "farming in FBW". It was a random match I got put into DAWG.

I have never been outscored by a Slash spammer.
I use Electric Slash sparingly with my Shadow.
The power is annoying and I'd like to see some sort of rework.

Glacier is so much more fun without some dingbat standing in the small room spamming away the entire map.

You are right.... they should add what I call biotic residue to it so people can make BE off of my biotic slash. This class is my alternative to the cerb classes since they nerfed smash. I am guessing the walmart mentality came out. What is that you ask. Well let me tell you. If I stand here and yell loud enough and for long enough I will get my way cause they just want to shut me up. Stop crying nerf for the love of all that is good. Do you not think they tested all this stuff out in different ways. This is the best way that they had now stfu and gtfo.

My rant is over.

-looks at the balance changes- well it seems like they're trying to force bottling everyone into simple buton mash classes and have the same build and killing diversity .....

To answer your question then:

yes they do want button mashing

I don't mind the through walls part, in fact with the casting animation it's sorta necessary, but the combination of short cooldown, damage, range and cone aoe seem sorta nuts compared to old abilities. It's a little over the top, but I don't think it needs a massive nerf.

Yeah, I agree, a masive nerf isnt necessary. A nerf in general isnt necessary. If anything, I would say a longer cooldown time.

Indeed.

I wouldn't mind seeing a longer cooldown, because you can spam it pretty endlessly. But like the whole Smash problem, at the same time, you're exposed to fire during a relatively lengthy animation sequence. And while people are b*tching about how it can be used through walls and through obstacles, A: the power slides you out behind a lot of objects you were hiding behind, and B: many enemies can still shoot you around those obstacles.

I was in a match on Glacier last week. I was standing behind a box down in the basement. The wave begins with the enemies spawning on the landing pad. A Geth Prime shoots me from the landing pad. He's in the middle of the landing pad, but not only can he see me from where he's standing, but he also arcs his shot around the objects that clutter the pad, around the door to the basement, and up and over the obstacle in front of me.

As long as the enemies can pull off shots like that, complaints about player abilities that pass through walls are like the buzzing of flies. Fix that horsesh*t before you fix powers that give us an edge over dispsh*t game mechanics.

When I stop seeing grenades that follow you around corners; when I stop seeing Primes toss turrets down a hall and into the middle of a room, maybe powers that go through walls will start seeming unfair to me.

But yeah, the power wouldn't suffer from a cooldown increase. Or hell, maybe even a range decrease on top of that.

Funny, if you're playing on FBW you're automatically farming now. This map is forever tarnished.

I'm pretty certain I've seen grenades follow me when I'm shadow slashing a person halfway across the map.

I've been hit by Marauders whose bullets followed me around a corner. That is, they started shooting me while I was out in the open, and I ducked around a corner to break their line of fire. But even after I was out of their line of fire, I kept getting hit.

First time this happened, I thought maybe I was being hit by another enemy. But this happens even when there's no one else in the room I just dodged into.

And it's not just Marauders. I've had it happen with all sorts of enemies. I'd like to chalk it up to lag, but it persists no matter who hosts. And there's just no way that Geth Prime example above was due to lag. I've seen way too many enemies targeting players when they have no way to see them.

I remember one time in particular, playing as a Geth with Hunter Mode active, I watched as a Cannibal tracked several other players through the floor.

Why do powers exist that go through walls? That does not make any sence at all. That´s just cheap.

Ok, then position yourself before a marauder on gold/platinum without cover then try to use smash or uncloaked electric slash. Then return to this forum and tell us the result.

That makes no sense, it´s like making an enemy faction stronger to stop players expoliting poor map design and ...
oh, wait.
Never mind.
