I was expecting so much more from her as a character rather than some optinal boss. I was hoping for her to be a hidden companion or at least a very importent npc which bioware rather falsly said she would. maybe a civil war dlc or any dlc may change this.

Yep, honorable my ***. She's just a toadie, a lickspittle, a yesman, a henchie, a no-good scumbag who follows every order given to her by you-know-who, no matter the cost.

So, to clarify, we don't like Loghain in this thread. Right?

She's like Saren.

Only a girl.

And not an alien.

Which I suppose makes Loghain Sovereign.

Only Sovereign isn't as aritificial.

Boom boom!

If she were honorable she would have cut Loghain's head off when he ordered a withdrawal instead of following the Kings command. But she is kind of cute, so if she wanted to join my group, what the heck, I've been gathering misfits all over Ferelden.

I didn't expect anything from her. I mean, you only see her twice - first in a cutscene in Ostagar, I think, and then in Denerim, for about one minute, during which she gets to utter one sentence. How did you even get the impression that she'd be a secret companion? It makes no more sense than thinking that you'll be able to recruit Godanna.

Yes, I would have liked to see her in more of the game and doing more than saying "Yes, sir." She is a character with potential that is never exploited.

Eh I'd want here solely for the fact that she breaks the fantasy archetype squad your party is made up of. The girls are mages and rogues, the boys are big burly warriors, the elf is a pretty assassin...
Same reason I want Jowan. Mix it up damnit!

When you say "recruit Goldanna" you mean "kill the daft moo". Dont you?

Cauthrien sucks, like everyone who licks Loghain´s a*s. So its all right how she is implemented. You dont need her for more than to cut off her head.

well if she can do all that with only one tongue, it is worth having her in the party.

Why not recruit Branka, then? At least she plays a much more important role in the story.

And the PC can be a male mage too, like Irving. Come to think of it, there's no gender balance issues when it comes to magic in Thedas, unlike magic in the Witcher, for example. The first enchanter is a man, at least half the Circle, including senior enchanters, are men. Not to mention Magister Lords in Tevinter. Also, we see a number female warriors. Not as many as male warriors, but they're still there.

What disappointed me with Ser Cauthrien was how easy it was to talk her down at Landsmeet. Really, one sentence she's defending Loghain, I tell her he's paranoid and suddenly she's all "You're right, just try to show him mercy." I thought she might argue with me at least a little, and make me work to convince her.

Cutting off her head doesn't work. My Dalish Ranger left her headless corpse before the Landsmeet, but I saw her standing at my funeral later. One's spirit can't rest easy knowing your enemies can come back from the dead but you cannot.

Because Branka is an abrasive, amoral, traitorous, murdering lunatic?
Cauthrien's only flaw is that she's Lawful Stupid.

I'm talking about *your party* in particular, not the PC or NPCs in general.
As for the Witcher.. well those eastern european stories just love their big burly men in the lead roles, so in those stories magic is generally delegated to the women.. along with stocking up the brothels and cleaning the kitchen.. yeah I have issues with the so-called masterpieces coming out of Europe's eastern side and god forbid, Russia.. *shakes fist*

I agree. This was really strange. Just like that she jumped off the Loghain boat.

But it was nice to walk into the Landsmeet without blood all over my armor.

It's the same as anyone though. You get a (Persuade) option that is successfull and their beliefs that they've had since the start of the game, probably before, crumble. It's a bit fake really. But I guess the only way that it would work without the game taking 6 years to complete.

Come to think of it, ones of the most powerful mages in the Witcher series were still men. it was just that on the average there were much more female mages than male mages in that world. Vilgefortz, for example - the main villain in the books and an incredibly powerful mage. Or even the Great Magister  - the main antagonist in the game - he was a mage too.

Well you can see on her face at the moment of betrayal at Ostragar that she knows exactly what is Loghain up to. And she knows just how wrong that is.

I am always happy to kill her in the end.

Well of course, you can't have mighty, manly Geralt face off against a woman as his ultimate foe! That'd offend the sensibilities of everyone over at Chernobyl.
