Watched a stream and I'm sold. Several hours of watching someone dick around in free roam and didn't even see guns. I'm buying this when I get a chance. I doubt it'll work on my PC but thats ok thats what I have a PS3 for.

Yeah it took a while for guns to come into play which I really like.

Nothing beats the time this song came on the in game radio, just as I was starting to casually run over some knife wielding gangsters.

So far I'm really enjoying the game. The story is really interesting and is also pretty intense imo. The protagonist is great (He is pretty much the Asian version of Nathan Drake).

For those who are still wondering if they will buy the game: I can totally recommend you to buy it. Really one of the best games of this year.

Same.  I've been following TheRadBrads Lets plays on this game, and I'm totally sold now lol.  Gonna order the game today.

But I can't wait for Resident Evil 6 either!! =O

Here's his playlist if interested.  Always has good commentary for his vids. Less annoying than that "PewDiePie" P****.  Can't stand his voice/accent.

Finally finished it. 36 hours total. Definitely on my GOTY so far. The story was good. The characters were great led by a very likeable protagonist in Wei Shen. Loved hand to hand combat and the gunplay wasn't bad either. The driving felt good, more arcadey but maybe that's why I like the driving more than in GTA IV.

My only complaint was that the dates were to short. Also the game left me a feeling of wanting more. Hopefully the game sells well so a sequel can be made.

PS.Also loved the soundtrack.

update: I'm 25 hours in. I simply LOVE it. This is one of the best moves Square Enix has ever done, to buy the rights. Stupid Activision had the nerve and ignorance to cancel it in 2011 because they felt it wouldn't make enough profit for their greedy suits.

Then Bioware should do Sleeping Dogs 2... Err wait... would that sound right? Would anyone want that? Nah lol. Stick to the cinematic games like ME.

I don't want BioWare anywhere near Sleeping Dogs, unless it's just to get fighting mechanic ideas for a certain chinese inspired game.

Lol, if only Jade Empire have this kind of fighting mechanics.

Story was good, better if you've seen Infernal Affairs and see the parallels in the story. Unfortunately everything after Big Smile Lee was weak. I did not care for how they decided to end it. There were better ways for them to handle the ending. The reveal of a certain character was nice, but everything surrounding it was weak.

Other than that, it's a beautiful mix of original True Crimes, GTA IV, Just Cause 2, and Arkham City. I'm looking forward to the sequel, since the reception to this game is what caused Rock* to release their GTAV screens.

Best GOTY of the year so far, but we've still got Dishonored, AC3 and Hitman: Absolution to look forward to.

Its not my GOTY, but enjoying it. But clearly my biggest difficulty in the game so far is remembering which side of the road to drive on.

Appropriate description, except it's better than GTA.

I'm in the UK so that's no problem for me. Apparently this was actually a contentious issue during development, they weren't always going to have it this way. Personally I'm glad Square and United Front chose to be authentic rather than kowtowing to the American market, and I still would be even if i wasn't in the UK.

As for the game, yeah it's quite good so far. On PC the driving can be difficult at times, and the shooting mechanics are rather poor, but the melee combat is good fun. I haven't finished it yet, but I'm close. Wonder if it'll get a sequel. We'll see how it compares to GTA V next year (though honestly I think it'll be alot better, even though Sleeping Dogs is a decent game.)

Melee combat is the highlight for sure. I've only been in one gunfight so far but I thought the mechanics were competent. I think this is one of those games where the sequel could be fantastic, so I hope Square Enix sticks with the IP. The control and camera issues keep me from rating the debut much above average though.

Yeah controls arent great. At least on the PC version. Especially when it comes to menu operation. Apparently just clicking on something was hard to implement.

Thanks to the controls, I think the most brutal act of violence in my game so far was when I accidently ran over two pedestrians with a moped of all things. Both funny and horrifying.
But I did appreciate the realism of the ambulance rushing to them afterwards.Image IPB

Fun game though, and the city looks just fabulous. The martial arts are great. No idea on guns, since the only one I saw being fired was in a cutscene.

Read a review and was thinking that that Sleeping Dogs might be an interesting purchase - think I'll pick it up when I go to the mall since the PC port is apparently good for the most part. My friend managed to convince me to get Saints Row: The Third, and it was a blast (albeit I sucked at driving as usual), so this should be interesting (at least in part because my dad met my mom in Hong Kong, heh).
