Yeah controls arent great. At least on the PC version. Especially when it comes to menu operation. Apparently just clicking on something was hard to implement.

Thanks to the controls, I think the most brutal act of violence in my game so far was when I accidently ran over two pedestrians with a moped of all things. Both funny and horrifying.
But I did appreciate the realism of the ambulance rushing to them afterwards.Image IPB

Fun game though, and the city looks just fabulous. The martial arts are great. No idea on guns, since the only one I saw being fired was in a cutscene.

That is one of my gripes in the PC version so I switched to a controller and the difference is huge. Makes driving much more fun. Almost Burnout like.

Read a review and was thinking that that Sleeping Dogs might be an interesting purchase - think I'll pick it up when I go to the mall since the PC port is apparently good for the most part. My friend managed to convince me to get Saints Row: The Third, and it was a blast (albeit I sucked at driving as usual), so this should be interesting (at least in part because my dad met my mom in Hong Kong, heh).

Well I love SR:TT more (for reasons not terribly relevant to this thread) but if you liked that, I'm pretty sure you'll enjoy this one. I'd probably compare it more to Saints Row 2...less over the top, but still has some funny dialogue and great storytelling. I do miss the car-porn (aka vehicle customization) of the SR games. But its a minor complaint since the game is more about martial arts.

Well I don't have a controller for my PC, so I've found sticking to motorcycles to be a decent workaround to my problems with both controls, and which side of the road I need to drive on. They are quite agile and handle well, and small enough that I can stick to the center of the road and drive between traffic.

pft beef buns are better.

But yes I played the demo I'll get it when its cheaper, didn't much like the hand to hand system it had. But the details in the game, the setting, all of that I enjoy, I'll wait for a Start with a gun dlc pack lulz. But really seems like a great game.

I have the PC version. Love the game, hate the controls.

I am considering getting a controller for this. But honestly they could have just made the mouse and keyboard controls NOT suck. Other games did it.

Apart from the controls, I think the PC port was succesful. At least on my machine the game looks great and runs smoothly.

Pretty much the way I feel. Proper keyboard and mouse controls weren't implemented. I mean, I understand development deadlines and prioritizing features, but how could native control schemes not be a priority? Otherwise it's pretty good.

"Why you not have pork bun in your hand??"
Thats my favorite awkward pork bun line.

And speaking of food, remind me never to eat at the restaurant of Winston's mom. Image IPB

Reminds me. Next time I boot up the game, I will finally buy one of those pork buns. So far I have been eating mostly noodles.

the mouse lagging issue I experienced from demo prevents me from purchasing it right now. It just feels so annoying when you are running. This is a far worse port than Batman Arkham City's PC version. I do not understand why they are so rushed to release it on PC. They should take 2~3 weeks to work on mouse control.

Arkham City is actually a quality port. This isn't. PC gamers should buy at their own risk.

Just noticed the game got a PC update the other day that went a long way towards making the interface PC friendly. Most of the menu things can be just clicked on now instead of keyboard navigated, they worked out some of the inconsistency between esc/backspace, fixed a few camera issues and other things.

The Store menus for some reason were left out of the fix, so still can't just click on things when shopping. But at least they're making the attempt to get things friendlier on PC.

The latest patch did much to improve a gimped port. They deserve a lot of credit for patching stuff so quick. Driving and free running is much better now. It's a good game really. Some of the side mission stuff is fairly routine. But if you like open world games in an urban setting, this is an excellent choice.
