Get rid of Legion and Aria and replace them with Javik and this would be a near-ideal squad.

"Would you have been fine with this Squad?"

I would have had no problem with just James Vega, Samantha Traynor and Steve Cortez as the only permanent Normandy crew if the story was better ... Having a character on the Normandy the whole time does not equal quality ... see Ashley's time aboard the ship in ME3.

What I would have liked were missions that made sense to beating the reapers, gaining alliances and furthering relationships (romanced and non). Look at ME2 where Liara was not a crew member, yet with one mission she gained even more fans. To have had missions that were specific to each character would have been my preference over going into a room where said character was standing, only to hear something like "thank you for visiting" or "can't visit now ... I'm calibrating".

To have been able to visit Liara again on the Shadow Broker ship, fight alongside the Zhu's Hope colonists & Shiala, meet Morinth unexpectedly on Omega, run into Jack on her pirate ship with a crazy band of mercs, maybe even see Miranda Lawson's residence. To feel that each character had their moment in the sun and that it had meaning ... I would have gladly given up quantity for quality with each of these characters.

Maybe at the final mission, Bioware could have set it where you could pick the final two to take with you ... that would have been nice. Oh, and a celebration party on the Normandy if your Shepard lived would also have been greatly appreciated ... a party that had laughter and tears. Where fallen comrades would be remembered and the promise of tomorrow celebrated.

That's actually a pretty brilliant idea... no permanent squaddies, you're with just the ones required in mission X or Y, and then you'd choose which ones to be with you at the end (or it could be loyalty related, or something like that). On the other hand you'd lose a lot of the RPG element, which is why my idea would work better in theory.

Yes, love the addition of Aria, would love to have her as a squad mate.

if the VS is in there then wheres Liara?  Mordan, Thane and leagon have story reasons for not being in the squad Aria has no reason to be there at all.

Get rid of Kaiden/Ashley. Replace with Zaeed or Kasumi or even Samara. Character conflict between Samara and Aria might be interesting. Is that Thane? Thane is no condition to fight by the beginning of ME3. Feron might be a good stand in and could be the Shadow Broker's representative. What about a Batarian squadmate like Balak? I'm trying to think of what might offer interesting character interactions. You could also have an either/or choice between Miranda and Jack- the other one will not be on the same ship as the other since they hate eachother so much.

There's more than enough room on the ship for extra companions- the life support room is never used, the egineering basement is never used, the AI core is barely used, Diana Allers cabin has a cipher of a character that no one would miss, the Shuttle Bay has an enormous unused amount of space. I think that the programmers wasted disc space (the bathroom for instance)... almost as if they had originally intended to do more with those areas but didn't.

The only ME2 squadmates I really miss being able to use are Miranda, Jack and Grunt (gotta have a heavy-hitting Krogan somewhere in there). As is, I really like the last squad.

Grunt, Wrex, Miranda, Legion and all the other squadmates from Me1 and ME2 should have been temporary squadmates in ME3 for the missions it fits storywise.
Like Wrex on Tuchanka, Legion on Rannoch and Miranda on Sanctuary.
Bioware even gave us old squad mates for the Citadel DLC combat simulator! Was the release of ME3 really so rushed that they couldn't do the same for the main game's side missions?

In ME1, my A-Team consists of Ashley, Kaidan, and Wrex.

My most frequently used ME2 squad members are Jack, Legion, Miranda, Samara, Thane, and Zaeed. No squad is complete without them.

ME3 official roflstomp team is Kaidan, James, and Javik. Aria deserves an honorable mention since she is a beast.

If they did it that way, I guess we'd have Wreav and Geth VI as their stand-ins.
