What Elements (if any) of DA2 Do You Want to See in DA3?

None of the combat/ballet dancing lessons!
None of the combat abilities!
The archer was useless to me! No arrow of slaying or sneaking around and scouting ahead. The fighting was like a medieval tankbattle. Messy and made no sense to me.
Cross combo fighting - I have NOOOOOO use for such! I play as the main character! My character should be able to work on his/her own and not dependent on others all the time for optimal damage
A mage that can render an enemy BRITTLE and not launch a stonefist for extra damage?! Makes no sense! Oh - perhaps the enemy was only partly BRITTLE?
A warrior that can stag an enemy and NOT gain the upper hand in a fight? Where is the sense in that?
A rouge can render an enemy disoriented or stunned and not take advantage of it on his/her own in a fight? Oh - perhaps because the rouge likes to play fair on the battlefield?!
An archer that can use archer lance IF the enemy doesn't move during his/her preparation - otherwise it was all for nothing - happend a lot in DA2. But I guess it is too difficult for the archer to concentrate on launching the archer lance to follow the target!
But if they want to keep on with the fighting as in DA2 then I would really like to have the option to hit a key that skips all the fighting and just let me enjoy the story.

I would like to see Fenris, Anders, and Isabella to come back. I doubt that they'll be party members, but I would personally like to because I love their characters. Isabella could be in there being the roaming pirate that she is, and I feel as if Anders/Fenris could have a part in the war given the sides that they have taken, but more Anders than Fenris.
I did like the friendship/rivalry, it could be improved, but I do like it the way it is now, but I would welcome improvements. I like the way how you could have a rivalry with someone, while also being really close with another-- I found it really fun to be have a rivalry rather than open hatred.
I like the hair designs for both males and females allot more, which made me more comfortable because I usually have a hard time with hair when it comes to making a videogame character. Hopefully they'll keep the old hairstyles and add new ones.
Edit: As said above, I do like equal opportunity romances. I, personally don't usually do same gender romances, but they don't bother me in the slightest and every now and then if I really get into the role of the character I created I would try it, it just personally feels odd for me, but I like the option because I honestly never saw why it wouldn't be an opportunity for both.
The only time I would ever want the romances to be for one gender is if really depends on the character's personality and past. If the character is a homosexual then I would accept it just as I would accept the character being a heterosexual, if it's determined on the character's personality and traits I would actually really like that as it adds depth to character (in my opinion). So I would like to see some hetero, ******, and bisexual characters in the game, but I also wouldn't mind or be against if every character was bisexual for the sake of equal opportunity for the player.

Besides that, there aren't any features I would like to carry over to DA3. The combat was a bit more responsive, but that was about it.

If DA3 would eschew the single gendered races of DA2 that would be nice.

also bring back Isabela lol
Ahaha....are there any other NPCs who've had to opportunity to sleep with both protagonists in both games? Just for the sake of continuity they ought to throw that option in DA3....

Similar to above, I want my Isabela back for sure, so we can chase that horizon.
I want the faster paced combat from DA2 to return, as well as the cleaner interface and skill tree style, but I want more emphasis on strategy rather than fighting off waves upon waves of enemies. Legacy and MotA did well on this for DA2, so I know BioWare can do it for DA3.
Unique companion appearances like DA2 but more customization through armor. Most armor you find in DA2 was useless to you. The blog post David Gaider made on Mike Laidlaw's PAX presentation should address this and I like where they're going with that.
That's all I can think of off the top of my head for now.

[edit] Oh yeah. The 'over here!' whistle warriors do when they use taunt. I love that.

Agreed with one exception: no rivalmances. To accurately describe my feelings on rivalmances, I'd have to use AVGN rants, and that'd probably get me in trouble for excessive profanity.bleetman wrote...
Bar fights. Snark. Companions that hate each other. Companions creating events for other characters and the player to react to, rather than always just reacting to whatever the player does. Companions who have their own lives. Voiced protaganists. Talent trees. Friendship/rivalry. Going to talk to one character, and finding them hanging out with another. Qunari. Beardless dwarves. Bisexual love interests. Boss fight mechanics other than 'use swords on X until one of you dies'. Female characters in heavy armour. Day/night cycles. Ferelden turnips. Sarcasm options. Flappy cloaks. Bouncy hair. Cross class combos. Adorable elves. More than two types of leather armour. The ability to mod the game. Woodland areas. Companions that chip in comments as you explore, or fight bosses. Her. Jo Wyatt. Murder knifing. Facial animations. Ham that tastes of despair. Orlesian armour. Mabari that don't take up a party slot. Being able to change your appearance after you start the game. Touching moments. Other touching moments. Rogue skills that actually benefit archers. Cheese jokes.
I'll probably think of more later.

I'd say it worked for Isabela (at least, besides the ways you need to employ to actually earn enough rivalry) and Fenris, and mostly works for Merrill. Anders... not so much.

Well, that and the fact that at the conclusion of Merrill's story arc with an active rivalry, she'll smash her mirror with her staff and admit that Hawke was right all along. What? No she wasn't.
But I'm getting off topic

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the rivalmance involves refusing the arulin'holm, yes?bleetman wrote...
I don't know, I rivalmanced Merrill twice and all it involved was not advocating the use of blood magic. You can still fundamentally support her as a person and in her efforts to rebuild the mirror, just not the 'I totally outsmarted a centuries old pride demon, nothing bad can come of this' part. The part I object to is being able to systematically treat her like garbage and still fulfill a romance, because the game made no effort to distinguish between disagreement and disapproval.
