M-90 Indra - The Community View

Last night on our FB London gold run someone questioned me about it, noting that they rarely saw Indra being used on Gold -- or, for that matter, Salarian infiltrators or Tempests (which two of us were using as backup weapons at the time).
Where do people think the Indra stands now in the ME3 metagame? I find it incredibly accurate at range, powerful enough to dispose of multiple baddies and clear out minions quickly, sufficiently large in the clip to be used without needing the ammo box too often and light enough to be versatile on most classes
Sorry if this has been a thread recently but I was looking for people's up-to-date opinions of the weapon.
Thoughts?

with rate of fire bonus, at least one and half clips, probably close to 2.RinShepard wrote...
How many cloak bonus Indra shots can a GI get out in one cloak?
that would be about 40 bullets.

So it's meh as a sniper rifle, and meh as an assault rifle. It's not a bad gun, but it's not worthy of being an UR. Then again, not many UR's are.

With other characters, this gun isn't nearly as good.

That's weird. 6/0/6/6/6 SalarInfils are some of the best button-pushers and first-in-circles in the game. Backup guns are kind of bad, though.

Low weight which allows it to be used on many classes, high rate-of-fire, good DPS; good, medium-range scope that works well on both smaller & larger maps, superb extra ammo capacity, recoil that's more than manageable... There's not much else to ask for, and after its most recent buff, I now see it worthy of being an Ultra-Rare.

Though, I have to say that I use it on my N7 Destroyer. Slap an incendiary, warp or AP mod and it's pretty scary to see boss mobs' hp drain away from the Indra's ROF.
So, Destroyer + Indra = win for me.

I have the Indra X and it is easily one of the best guns in the game. on a GI with Warp Rounds it shreds Phantoms, Atlases, Banshess and basically any enemy. don't listen to ANYONE hating on the indra now.
I also find this a good enginieer gun. Very light and with a weight reduction spec, most engineers can achive 200% cd.

The damage it deals is great and it has a lot of ammo.

You have it at X. How many people have it at X? And you're still having to say "with (arguably) the best ammo in the game) it shreds stuff. I think you just painted a more negative picture of it than the "haters".

Who cares? If ppl hate a gun because they think its bad.... Its their problem. They miss something out and I could care less. Its a great gun for any difficulty.
Most of my frieds have it on X too. I only have it on VII... from my point of view there are many with a maxed out Indra.

Shows how much the game has changed, though, with your comments on the SI; I always thought that people use to consider him the best class for gold from what I remember when the game first came out. He was like the promised land for the lowly bronze players like me at the time. :-D

Slap on Warp or Incendiary ammo, and watch bosses melt on any difficulty.
The only drawback is the hipfire penalty.

No, the Indra is a rather odd fish.
If you discount any ammo mod usage, it performs well, not great but definitely in the "good" range. However once you throw ammo mods into the mix, the damage per second ratio go up the roof due to the Indra's ROF.
This is even more apparent if you use it on a class with ROF bonuses like the Destroyer or Geth Infil / Engineer.
More importantly, it has far more utility then most will give it for. Head shot bonuses for Mooks, make this gun a tap shot face melter and is very forgiving if you miss, just bring that stream of molten lead onto target.
Considering that I switch between it and my Harrier often, I find it less a problem in management since I dont have to be married to an ammo box. As for its hip shot penalty, that's what the Piranha is for. Knowing when to switch between guns is part of the fun, no?

The hipfire penalty is a dumb mechanic in any case. It shouldn't exist.
