I have an Indra 10... it's an assault rifle with a sniper scope, nothing more.

And like most AR's and sniper rifles, worthless on Platinum

As for its hip shot penalty, that's what the Piranha is for. Knowing when to switch between guns is part of the fun, no?

The hipfire penalty is a dumb mechanic in any case. It shouldn't exist.

This. I mean, what is the penatly trying to simulate? That a bullet leaves a sniper rifle with less velocity if you don't look through the scope? It's just mindlessly dumb.

No, the bullet leaves with the same velocity.  But the care with which you observe the impact increases the damage.  If you had the hubble mounted on your face you'd get one shot kills on everything in plat.

Yeah, that's what I said, that's just dumb. If you can aim well WITHOUT a friggin' scope, why would you use it? It's better to hipfire, and have a good view of the combat zone at the same time. And, the added benefit is that you can switch targets faster.

Also, one shot kills in plat? Shield gate says hello. Unless you have a Javelin X with full Headshot VI amps, you can't do it.

Perhaps he should have put in a

at the end of that.

Err.. I was actually agreeing with him? You know, saying 'Yeah, that's just what I said... blah blah blah'

And I was raising the problem that the Javelin is meh at the moment, and that the shield gate mechanic [another mechanic that's annoying on snipers but completely bypassed by shotguns] should be reduced, especially for this particular sniper rifle. Not sure if BioWare can do that with balance changes though.

It's something that would probably require a patch to make the jav bypass shield gate like the kishok would i imagine.

EDIT : as a side note, the javelin can sometimes, for no apparent reason, completely bypass a phantom's barrier.  It's very strange.

Yes, unfortunately. Or they could increase the damage, maybe by a 20%. With Cloak Bonuses, that would probably do the trick? Not sure though, I'll leave that to the number crunchers.

As for the Phantom barrier bypass : Really? Do you remember your setup?

If there are 100 people in a room and you think they all smell like cat poo, it's probably your upper lip.

So now you are getting offensive?

It can happen any time vs a phantom with a javelin, regardless of your load out, but it is not consistent.  You'll just randomly OHKO a phantom.  It's not as if your shot ignores shield gate either.  I did a couple tests without gear on plat, and made phantoms put up their barrier with proxy mines.  At this point, when this little 'bug' did happen, (without gear, not enough to one shot)  the phantom took ONLY health damage.

Thanks for the info, I'll be trying that.

I got an Indra IV quickly and havent gotten an upgrade in two months now, but I love the weapon. A miss does not mean you have to wait for a long reload as on other SR's. Also, I can "walk" fire onto the target using the tracers and if I put good ammo I can stagger the target with a few shots and then finish it easily. I particularly love using incendiaries and getting the Cerberus Fire Dance or disruptors and getting the Geth Love Shake.

Ironically, my Indra was at level VII and I didn't touch it till yesterday on my SI in a Gold match and I was loving it. I think it's a great gun, but I personally wouldn't use it on Platinum. It's a good time to use my Sniper Rifle Amp III that's been piling up, I think I have 113 or something. Even RNG was being nice to and gave me a Indra VIII upgrade last night.

I actually like to use my Indra with my paladin. Energy Drain to strip shield and stun unshielded enemies while I unload the Indra on their heads. Muhahahaha

Actually, plat is the perfect place to use it.  With the more recent buff, it is now one of the highest dps snipers (still below some of the better guns from other classes obv) making it better for the boss spam, and ofcourse, you can ignore shield gate.

Not a bad gun. Not a great gun. Light and accurate, making is a good light assault rifle for long-range purposes. Hipfire penalty makes me want to raaaaaaaaaaaaaaage.

Been trying it on my Justicar with incendiary rounds. The reave and incendiary DOT are pretty insane. And reave's stun on basic mooks makes them easy targets. Works well for an outside the box weapon and class build.
