Be a shield based warrior, best build for those types. Focus on that tree. Your best specializations are Templar and Champion as you level up. Pour your points into STR and DEX.

do you know what the differences are between the Champion and Templar specialization

Templar is basically "resistant to magic" guy

Champion gives your party members attack/defence/damage bonuses etc. and takes those bonuses away from the enemies.

Templars resistant to magic? Since when? Last time I checked they could drain mana and purge mages.

Anyways, can't go wrong with champion but it combines pretty well with berserker too.

If you put in 3 points, you get a bonus to health and stamina regen among other things.
