Morrigan, Sten, Wynne & I (mage) were doing well, but eventually everyone died except me. I ran behined the circular structure to hide and heal and all of a sudden, all the other characters came back to life. Has this ever happened to anyone else?
Here comes the awesome part. The 3 of them were fighting the dragon (1/4HP left) inside the circular structure. I came around to the front to discover that Sten had climbed onto the dragon and was riding it on the top of its neck I got to see Sten take his sword and stick it all the way into the top of the Dragon's head. It was awesome!
Two very interesting things happened when I fought the High Dragon...

I have had my team spontaneously come back to life twice. Once in my last game, and once in the game before. They were most assuredly dead, and so was Wynn, so she didn't revive anyone. I was sure the whole thing was lost, and suddenly, there they are! As I said. Twice. Weird. maybe that's one of those inspired skills you get? j/k
As for glitches when fighting the high dragon. I saved the mages for that fight. Specifically. When I called them, they didn't show. Ever. All the elves had been killed, and I wanted mages. I tried again. Still none. Never saw them. Did finally beat the stupid AD... with a sword and a dagger. Really.

I used Golems and werewolves with Wynn and Me ((Dwarf warrior noble)) Alister, and Loghan. So three tanks with swords and sheilds and wynn healing us. the golems might only be four but they deal super damage and the werewolves jsut shread threw darkspawn ground forces. never had them all come back to light tho cus eI usealy switch to wynn and just stand back and heal/revive so i dont lose.

there is a difference between high dragon and archdemon. you don't seem to know it.

Sometimes if you run far away enough, the game thinks you are in a "safe" zone or have finished the battle, so members will come back to life as they would when any fight was over. Sounds like that might have been what happened.

High Dragon = Dragon during the Sacred Ashes. Archdemon = Final Boss. For the terminology impaired.

Yes and No.
I haven't had the party come back to life.
Last playthrough my character jumped up on the dragon and administered the coup de grâce. I'd seen it on Ogres and on the Broodmother, but up until that stage I hadn't seen it on the High Dragon before. Although I have been used a Dragon chew toy a couple of times.
(On the Broodmother it's more of a slit-the-fat-things-throat type action).
One other thing, there's a few chests up in that ruined circular structure, worth having a look next time you're in the area.

Its happened when I run away from a battle as the last survivor - with one or two enemies chasing me. When I am far enough away from the rest of the enemy mob and I kill the ones behind me, the dead rise.

I had Wynn come back to life once. We definitely were still in combat. I thought maybe it was a plot-related thing, but she's died several times since then and stayed dead until the end of combat.
Maybe sometimes if she gets off a heal just in time characters can die and rise again?

I think Wynne has some skills that can cause this kind of behavior.

Thanks for the interesting feedback! It makes sense that if you run far enough away that the game thinks you're in a "safe" zone and brings the characters back to life. However, I was really close to the Dragon. He was on one side of the circular wall and I was on the other. Maybe it only happens when Wynne is in your party. It never happened to me before I had Wynne.

Run far enough away from enemies (e.g. out of combat) and they'll suddenly pop back up, yes. Doesn't have anything to do with Wynne, just the landscape and your ability to run to safety. What's really strange is that once combat is over, you have to run close to the corpse of your ally before they'll get up. At least in my experience.

Do Wynnes quest you will find out that she is um special like that ... she dies in my groups and no one rezzes her and she pops back up lol... but there is a reason for it

Also note there's a mod that forces 'deathblows' so you get them more regularly, which I've just added for my next playthrough:
