I bought the regular version of Mass Effect 3, so I do not have immediate access to the Eden Prime mission. Is it worth $10? I know there is a new squad mate, but how long is the mission itself? Is it the same length as other prioirty missions like Rannoch and Tunchaka (spelling...), or is it much shorter?

Thankis!

I do not find it as long as some other Priority missions, but I do find it longer than some of the other missions. It also includes a new squadmate (Javik) and a new weapon (Particle Rifle) that some players really like. And if you explore the cluster, you have new Intel options and credits available. Javik also unlocks some different dialogue later on in the game on Thessia.

It is worth it in my opinion.

What he said. The mission itself is not necessarily worth $10, but the squadmate is a pretty big addition. Much more interactions than Kasumi or Zaeed.

Javik is a great character and he comes with an awesome weapon. You shouldn't buy it for the mission on Eden Prime. If that is the only reason you would want the DLC it isn't worth it.

If you already think you have enough squadmates or if you do not plan on using Javik much, then you shouldn't buy it either. Only buy it for the squadmate, not for the mission.

Javik is hugely interesting if you like the lore of the game and the Particle Rifle is an incredible weapon in the hands of squadmates.
The actual mission is decent, nothing special but not bad by any stretch.

Javik is fun (especially his conversations with Liara) and the PR is (short of the Harrier) the best rifle in the game.

Most of what he says is demeaning, but funny. Every line he has is about how things were different in his time and how primitive you are. The only real thing he adds to the game is during the Thessia mission, which if you've played already, you know where that is going.

Oh and the DLC includes the alternate costumes for all characters.

Not true actually. If you do not have Javik available (not recruited) then only Liara has commentary in the temple on Thessia and your squadmates do not say anything. It is only once you recruit Javik when conversations get more interesting in the Thessia temple, whether he is one of your two squadmates or not.

Honestly, I'd argue the Particle Rifle is in par with the Harrier - once it cranks up to full power its roughly equivalent in DPS and never runs out of ammo :P

Javik himself is a great squadmate too - roughly equivalent to Samara in ME2 in terms of power, and has some *very* interesting points to make throughout the game.

The extra intel terminal upgrade is useful, too.

To be honest, I'd say the mission itself is a small part of the DLC. Good mission, though, particularly if you're into Prothean lore - I really liked the flashback sequences.

Its just a really good DLC. Mine was included in the CE, but had it not been, it would have been a worthwhile purchase regardless.

Tbh the Eden Prime mission is rather bland and not very exciting, but Javik is definately worth every penny. Easily one of the best characters in the series.

The mission itself is so and so, but opening up Javik and even gaining the Prothean Particle Rifle is worth it. The gun can carry you through insanity, if you want to. Javik is... well, you get many, many, many small events and extra conversations here and there that I think is worth it.

Plus he's a good squadmate too. :P

Er, what?

I've only played it twice, but Garrus and Ashley both had plenty to say. They're not jackasses like Javik, of course, but they do point out the Ugly Truth to Liara.

Anyway I concur with the above posters, Javik is worth it. What he does to the lore actually irritates the crap out of me, but he singlehandedly makes Vega tolerable every time they interact, and even gets me to outright like Liara in a few places. His bonus power and bonus weapon are fairly uber, and he's a good biotic complement to a soldier or tech Shepard with no Kaidan. I did find Eden Prime a reasonable level - it's pretty, it's atmospheric, it's actually an open area with a bit of choice in how you progress and not a dumb linear corridor - but it's certainly not worth ten bucks by itself.

Allow me to clarify:
(1) If Javik was recruited (you played Eden Prime before Thessia) and Javik is one of your two squadmates, he will have plenty to say in the Thessia temple.

(2) If Javik
was recruited (you played Eden Prime before Thessia) but he is not one of your two squadmates, your squadmates will comment on the various artificacts you interact with.

(3) If Javik is not recruited yet (you are playing Thessia before Eden Prime), then only Liara does most of the talking. Your other squadmate says very little and does not comment on the temple artifacts.
