I have read in several places that, at some point in the game, the Warden can become Arl of Denerim (in addition to Arl of Amaranthine, Bann of the Denerim Alienage, Teyrn of Gwaren, Royal Chancellor, and/or Prince Consort or Queen of Ferelden).

I've never been able to get the option to do that, however. Is it real, or just fanon? And if it's real, how do you do it?

I have never encountered or even heard of that option.

They might mean that you get to become Bann of the Alienage of Denerim, which is possible if you're a City Elf who requests some way to be sure his/her people will be treated fairly for once.

It depends on your origin.

The Male Human Noble can marry Anora and become a king-consort while the Female Human Noble can marry Alistair and become his queen. Either way, you can also become Teryn of Gwaren if you ask for "land, riches and a title."

The City elf can be named the first Bann of the Alienage if they don't elect Shianni, Soris, or anyone else for the seat.

Any Warden can choose to become a Royal Chancellor if they chose, "Serve the crown," and they'll be end up as Arl of Amaranthine since the Grey Wardens are given that Arling and the Warden-Commander (you) is in charge of the wardens of Ferelden.

Never heard anything about becoming Arl of Denerem though.
