Multi-frags are the best grenades in the game.

I beg to differ on that one.

They're good for large clusters of enemies such as freshly spawned groups or large fat targets like the Atlas and the Brute but on smaller enemies scattered pretty good distance from each other?

It's like trying to kill an single trooper in a forest with a carpet bomb.

More then likely he's going to get away somehow.

Most of the other grenades are far more accurate at hitting single targets and still retaining enough area damage to match the Multi-frag.

Best grenade against groups? Yes.

Best grenades in the game? No.

Okay, sound argument, but who uses grenades against a single enemy, or a very scattered group? What grenade would do better?

Makes alot of sense. Convincing argument, sir. The time spent running to an ammobox could be better spent and it's not like you're raining grenades to begin with. Shields really isn't that big of an issue because I don't just sit out in open space on gold.

I find it pretty useful, just know when to turn it on, and when to turn it off. You _can_ spec for the rocket launcher, and still have your huge shields if you need them in certain situations.

Frankly, I like the rocket launcher, and use it a lot (hate running to boxes for grenades). The only thing that pisses me off is the way it hits in enclosed environments.

Single target... Homing. Very scattered group, Arcs.

Don't buff the damage, make it fire more often and give it a stun effect

For me the Jury is still out, I have run it both ways on Silver and Gold, the missle launcher is desperate useful and like the OP it has saved me many times, it has shot a missle to get the kill when I was reloading or reviving a team mate.....I have it set up without at the moment and it`s a very tough call, although many characters have powers some of us do not spec into that are a tough call.....I wish I could have two, one with and one without.

As for Multi Frag`s they are very powerful, are they the best in the game....not even close.

Thank you for the post OP, my experiences mirror your`s

Honestly the decrease in shields bothers me less than the loss of something else in the skill tree.

Losing Multi-Frags is not acceptable (awesome burst damage+force), losing passive weapon damage is also not acceptable (drastically cuts into your DPS, which is the prime focus of the class), or you're losing shields, which combined with Missile Launcher decrease makes you incredibly flimsy.

The missile launcher isnt THAT bad by itself, its that you're forced to sacrifice something else far more valuable in exchange for a "below average" skill tree.

Couldn't have said it better myself.

I love the missile Launcher. I leave it on ALL THE TIME, except when I'm in a pickle, so i can have my shields back. I opted to the shield buff in Devastator mode, and maxed my fitness. On top of that, Juggernaut Shield helps. Ive found that Ive made up for most of my shield loss using those. But, I just shut it off it things get scary haha. And yes OP, I LOVE the stagger that the missiles do. Gives me plenty of reaction time to warm up my Typhoon or Particle Beam!

How often do the missiles fire? It seems like I only see them hit anything like once or twice a round. I've never specced into them personally, just watched other people use it

I still say that it needs to not cut the the Destroyers shields so badly, as he really is all shields in the end. Not like the Krogan Vanguard for example. Who I found can retain about 25% of his shield's after a Nemesis shot hits him.

And for the damage output, it should really fire faster then it does.

But yeah, using it on my current build with cobra missiles, it has saved me and others a few times.

You know N7 demolisher and N7 destroyer is a very good combination for me. Supply pylon for the frag granades.

NYG, the missiles fire every 2.6s if you choose the speed upgrade and 3.6s if not.

I actually really like the missile launcher. I tried this class with 6/0/6/6/6 and a Cerb harrier and didn't really like it or the multi-frags. Then I rebuilt as 6/6/0/6/6 with Revanent and, eventually, Indra and I love the missile launcher. The damage isn't great, but it fires while you're doing other stuff, even running iirc, like the OP said. The shield penalty isn't that bad, either. If you take the lessened shield evo it's only sapping 350, which sounds like a lot, but with full fitness he's got 1650 (dropping to 1300) which is loads more than most non-krogans. Slap on a 30% shield boosting perma-gear and you're sitting at 1600 shields.

Basically, the damage could be better, but overall its inadequacies have been exaggerated.

1. It initiates the Phantom 'Hand of denial'. This makes the Phantom sit still without you doing anything, so you can blow her face off.

!

I did this a lot ^^ really helpful.

It's full of advantages, but really take too much shield. It need more damage or less shield penality to be worth...

"Some positives" don't make it not useless. If they removed the shield penalty and increased the base RoF a bit, I MIGHT consider putting points into it.

I just don't think that it does enough to justify a 500 hit to your shields. If they reduced the penalty a bit (say to 40% base) and buffed the damage I think it would be a decent choice without requiring a nerf to anything on the class.

How much shields do you guys really need? Seriously?

How does that extra bit of shields translate into Platinum gameplay? 1 Extra shot before shield gate... if that?

I've played alot of characters without any fitness... so I guess it doesn't bother me that much. I'll always choose offense over defense.

I may be one of the 10 people in the world who actually like the ML. Sure it's as weak as a condom that's been in a wallet for 6 years, but since the first time I used it I've viewed it as purely a defensive utility. Everything you said in the OP is absolutely true and I love how easy it is to kill a Phantom with the ML constantly keeping her stationary.

That said, you'll never convince most people on BSN of the utility of ML simply because most of them view DPS as the end-all-be-all factor in determining what is good and what isn't. Personally, I don't give a crap about DPS in a lot of circumstances. ML can be and is a lifesaver and since the Destroyer can carry the most powerful weapons in the game without penalty, ML is an awesome tool.

One other bonus that ML gives you is no need to fight your 3 teammates over a limited supply of grenades.

You view an ability that kills your shields as defensive.  LOL.  Just... LOL.
