So I'm trying to work my way through insanity.

guess what?

half way through one of the later levels I get stopped at an elevator, because I guess one of the geth got pushed off of the catwalk.

I can't kill him.. and I can't open the elevator.

so now I must start at the beginning of the level, which pissed me off to no end.

FIRE YOUR GAME TESTERS!!!

IF THEY MISSED THIS...GOD KNOWS WHAT ELSE THEY MISSED!!!!!

You shouldn't advocate the sacking of people because of a bug in a game, how are they supposed to catch every single detail? While I agree that the game is incredibly buggy, these are peoples livelihoods we are talking about, they have families, expenses, and they don't need of deserve the uncertainty of grasping for a job in an uncerting economic climate.

The guy who wrote EA don't pay their testers.

They do. I was there. Not as a tester. I even recognize the names on the original mass effect 1 credits for QA.

They never did any focus group thing while I worked there. The tech support guys helped to testing at night for extra pay.

I was and still am pretty displeased with Face Import issue and while I bumped into bugs which prevented me completing missions, I just don't agree with what OP wrote in capital letters.

What a private company decides to do is up to managers, board, or a decisive organ. A customer expressing his/her dissatisfaction can channel that. If it's done in a constructive manner (what bothers them and why), it can be actually useful. Visible results - products or their absence - should be an answer.

And I can imagine it isn't easy to tune the game for so many HW configuration. I mean except the face import, basically everyone I talked in RL who bothered to create a custom Shepard, had serious problems creating even 70% features of familiar face. Simply saying "We are working on it/We don't because of X" would be much appreciated.

As for this thread in general, it's really nice to see Bioware's guys to partake in a discussion to such extent :). Some replies were interesting to read.

QA is a job like any other. Because it's a job, companies need to pay for people to do it.

Focus testers may or may not get paid, depending on the company. All of the BioWare focus testing I was aware of over the years were one-day or two-day, paid jobs.
