Well, im new here, and i have no idea if this is the right place to talk about this (is there any mac tech support forum?), but i've just downloaded my Deluxe Edition of DAO for Mac, installed, running and then...

...a nice window appears and asks me to login, in order to get my online extras; the one with your e-mail and password fields. And now its when the fun begins: the command (cmd) and option (alt) keys don't work here, so you cant type your e-mail address, or paste an @. So, i'm not playing my new game today.

I've tried everything. Probably there is a silly solution i can't find for myself, so i beg for your help.

Any ideas?

M.

Hmm it worked for me.

Maybe type it into a text file. use command-c and copy it and then command - v to paste it?

I installed mine at the beginning when it asked me during the install. I already had an EA account and just put it in there. I think you are talking about the in game where it asks you to log...

As i said before, when you got to the login window (in game, not during the installation), those two keys (command and option) stop working, so it's impossible to copy-paste the address (that was the first thing i did before posting).

I hope Bioware give us a solution, because i just paid 75$ for a game i can't play, and I'm sure there will be a lot of people like zarnex_666 and me.

Can't you just type the address (Command isn't used on Windows; you could try Control-V to paste since DA is a Cider "port," although games typically ignore these anyway)?

The "@" is Shift-2, so unless you have a strange email or password, you should still be able to type without the Command or Option keys doing anything.

You have to press Mouse 2 to toggle the cmd and alt keys off and on. I believe they're off by default.

I've seen this problem on some Mac spanish forums today. Bioware doesn't have an answer at this moment (some people is sending e-mails to EA).

Keep posting ideas.

I was just trying to help. I just verified that it works in game for me on a US standard USB Apple keyboard.  Are you on a European keyboard? Do you get any character displayed when trying to type @

That is 75$ canadian? right?

Offtopic
The price of the game is 64.95 €

75$ USD, in euros:53.96 €

The ammount is because, in spain we have to pay a 16% of  VAT

I have the same problem and currently i'm using a European Keyboard, spanish ISO distribution.

When i try to write @ using Option+2, no characters apears, it's looks like the keys Option and Command doesn't works.

Have you tried changing your keybord settings to US keyboards?

The problem here is that the keyboard layout is a bit different from say a US keyboard to an European keyboard.

For me, on my Danish keyboard the @ sign is the ALT GR key pressed un unison (together) with the cipher 2 key - in the top row of the keyboard. Don't know if it's the same for MACs, though.

I will try the keyboard settings in a couple of hours.

Anyway, @aries101, in a Mac keyboard, alt gr = option. So, opt+2 = alt gr+2 (same buttons, placed the same way of PCs).

Thx @Jolly too.

ok I got in ... !!!

thanks to Aries101! /bow

I went to: system preferences > language & text > input sources and besides "Belgian" I also selected "U.S." and checked the "Show Input menu in menu bar"

=> go to the menu bar and make sure U.S. is selected and startup DOA
=> go to logon screen and use SHIFT+2 to get the @ character, be careful other chars are also mapped. (azerty vs qwerty)
=> then you can alt-tab out of the game and re-select your default input source
