I guess we didn't, but there have yet to be anyone in Thedas seen who fits those characteristics, as far as I know, so it's a bit different compared to making someone dark-skinned when Rivain has people who are dark-skinned and it borders Antiva.

Meh, might just be their Warden. At least that's the way I took it.

I don't think anyone here has suggested that all women from Antiva must be depicted as having a certain colour of skin. I think all the OP was suggesting was that the lore of Dragon Age doesn't imply that there would be many Antivan women with African features like the woman depicted in the artwork she was referring to.

That's what the OP has been saying this entire time. The "lore" of dragon age doesn't specify specific physical features native to Antivans.

To use a real-world example, there are people of purely African background who are albino. Their appearance doesn't make them any less African, but they're not typical examples of what many African people look like.

Sure, but they are argueing that the original concept couldn't possibly be anything of what an Antivan woman looks like. Based on her skin color alone.

Personally, I think it would be interesting to see people in Thedas who have a greater variety of ethnic features – I'd love to see more people with African or Asian features in future Dragon Age games, for example.

So would I but...I doubt that's going to happen. I just stick to making my Hawke's/Wardens/???? brown.

I interpreted what the OP said differently – it sounded to me as though she was saying that the Antivan woman depicted in the fanart looked, to her, like an atypical example of an Antivan woman – in the way that someone who's albino would be an atypical example of a person from Africa.

I also like creating dark-skinned characters. I think it would be cool to see the character creator in DA3 offer more possibilities for creating ethnically diverse characters.

Zevran is a Dalish elf. So of course he's not going to look like the humans of Antiva

Concept: a general notion or idea - an idea of something formed by mentally combining all its characteristics

The artist I mentioned's CONCEPT DRAWING (which in this case, the artwork IS a concept drawing) does NOT reflect an Antivan Apostate.I didn't say she didn't represent "every Antivan ever." I believe I have stated that many times...

Morrigan was from the Korcari Wilds. You're comparing apples with oranges there.

When do you ever see women wearing garters without bottoms?

Antivan is a romantic country. She is a Apostate, I made a connection of her being on the run as an Apostate to being without a "house" and probably also without much money... so she would be a prostitute or a lady of the night. So in this case, having your nickers showing makes sense.

Sure, but they are argueing that the original concept couldn't possibly be anything of what an Antivan woman looks like. Based on her skin color alone.

No, I based it off her clothing, her jewelry, the way she wears her hair and the color of her skin and the fact that her bodas is made of what looks to be a heavy leather. Antiva leather is said to be supple and of the highest quality.

And this man is the only source of your argument.

He's the ONLY source ANYONE has about Antivans. The "lore" specifies this as a feature of Antivans because the only LORE we have of Antiva comes from Zevran in the game.

Rivaini are said to be dark skinned, Isabela is from Rivaini and she appeared in DA2. So to "assume" that future installments of DA will have no "dark colors people" is just silly seeing on how the next game is rumored to go to areas like Rivaini.

This is the last time I'm going to respond to any of your "questions" Alex. At this point it's obvious that you're somehow taking this seriously and personally and are just looking to fight about this rather then looking at the topic rationally and with an open mind.

Oh god, now it's the "humans of Antiva". Nice switch there.

Concept: a general notion or idea - an idea of something formed by mentally combining all its characteristics.

Wait used the wrong word. It doesn't say anything a "concept" just "his vision".

The artist I mentioned's CONCEPT DRAWING (which in this case, the artwork IS a concept drawing) does NOT reflect an Antivan Apostate.I didn't say she didn't represent "every Antivan ever." I believe I have stated that many times...

Nah, bro. If his lady is supposed to be his vision of an Antivan apostate then why did you come over here with "So based on ALL this, I can't imagin that the Antivan woman would look like an African Warrior princess" You didn't say apostate you said Antivan WOMAN
as in ALL women from Antiva.

Morrigan was from the Korcari Wilds. You're comparing apples with oranges there.

And this lady is from...?

Antivan is a romantic country. She is a Apostate, I made a connection of her being on the run as an Apostate to being without a "house" and probably also without much money... so she would be a prostitute or a lady of the night. So in this case, having your nickers showing makes sense.

What does Antiva being a romantic country...have to do with anything at all? Does not explain the garters at all.

No, I based it off her clothing, her jewelry, the way she wears her hair and the color of her skin and the fact that her bodas is made of what looks to be a heavy leather. Antiva leather is said to be supple and of the highest quality.

If Antiva is a romantic country, and if she is an apostate who would likely be a prostitute...why wouldn't she wear little clothing and gaudy jewelry...right? We both must have different ideas of "heavy leather" in our heads, yes.

He's the ONLY source ANYONE has about Antivans. The "lore" specifies this as a feature of Antivans because the only LORE we have of Antiva comes from Zevran in the game.

And that's why when we have very small amounts of information we don't make broad assumptions. Saying that the woman in the art could not be Antivan because Zevran said Antivans were all dark haired and the color of honey wine is wrong.

Rivaini are said to be dark skinned, Isabela is from Rivaini and she appeared in DA2. So to "assume" that future installments of DA will have no "dark colors people" is just silly seeing on how the next game is rumored to go to areas like Rivaini.

2 games and Isabela is the only Rivaini we've seen. God, we've even seen more Antivans. I never said we wouldn't see anymore brown people. There are loads of brown people that Bioware threw in there because they were too lazy to make all the faces. I know the signs of  the "RANDOM BUTTON" when I see them.

This is the last time I'm going to respond to any of your "questions" Alex. At this point it's obvious that you're somehow taking this seriously and personally and are just looking to fight about this rather then looking at the topic rationally and with an open mind.

What? Making broad generalizations of something you know little to nothing about...is open minded. Well whatever you say, Captain. Thank you for your time.

The woman on Facebook's clothing reminds me of Isabela's (especially with the jewellery). So does the picture on this thread somewhat. Much as I love Isabela (and Morrigan to a degree), I really hope it isn't going to be a running theme that one of the women in the party has to be wearing barely any clothes.

Duncan is half-Rivaini, his mother was from there. Just throwing that out there.

The one bioware listed looks more like from Africa. But Antiva is suppose to be Spain. So definitely yours picture (reginamb) is more accurate.

Yes, definitely i agree. I want all of them like that. AWAY with the awful pants!!! (in fact women shouldn't even wear any pants, they have skirts!!!! Even Aribeth had it in NWN, why its not here like that? I dearly hope we don't see any pants wearing girls in Orlei)

If you don't like women wearing pants, and want them to only wear skirts, then perhaps you should play JRPGs..

So I saw the post made by Bioware on Facebook the other day and decided to make my own version (because I strongly disagree with the artist's version they posted)

Let me know what you think?
She, like Antiva, is strongly inspired by Itallian dress and Spanish / Itallian woman.

Why is she running around without her pants?

This.

Antiva is pretty much an analogue of Spain.

The woman in that (facebook) pic looks like she's Nigerian, not Spanish.

100% agreed. You can be a rogue type character and still cover up without sacrificing agility.

I think the better question here is, why WOULDN'T she?  Pants are SO overrated.

So is she the leaked character from the concept art the facebook Antivan because both are dark-skinned or is the facebook character a made up artwork?

Morrigan and Isabella both wore revealing/unrealistic outfits. I see nothing wrong with either of these concept arts. I also agree that Antivan's are most likely tan/olive skinned brunettes with exceptions of course.

The one on Facebook looks like Isabella, and therefore is assumed Rivaini based on Isabella being the only Rivaini we have met.

The picture posted here looks more like an Antivan that I would imagine. Conservatively dressed and yet blatantly enticing all at once, the whole get up screams of a Spanish/Italian mix with a Courtesan spin.

Lovely work.
