I know exactly what's wrong with my NWN I just have no clue how to go about fixing it, so if anyone here can tell me how to do so I would be very happy.
What's wrong is that my NWN isn't detecting my OpenGL drivers. I know this might be because I have an ATI graphics card that uses OpenCL instead. I did find the file that is supposed to fix issues with OpenGL games, but all it does is leave me with a black screen when I reach the main menu of NwN. I've never had this problem before, only once I switched fron Windows 7 to Windows XP.

I thought that NWN used DirectX only. . I do not know if it is compatible with open GL or not.

I have a similar issue. I double click nwmain.exe, the screen goes black, and I get this
Problem signature:
Problem Event Name: APPCRASH
Application Name: nwmain.exe
Application Version: 1.6.9.0
Application Timestamp: 486cfadc

Sometimes it says that the fault module name is atioglxx.dll (OpenGL, as you said). I tried downloading older drivers and newer drivers from AMD, but nothing works. I'm in Windows Vista.

ATI/AMD newer drivers do not play nicely with NWN and the OpenGL instructions it uses. Many people have said that Catalyst 11.4 is the only newer driver set that plays nicely. You can either try installing that version, or take the atioglxx.dll from 11.4 and place it directly into your NWN folder.

you two have 2 different problems
@silvernachtwolf try these before driver changes: turn any programs such as xfire off, turn catalyst ai off, run nwmain.exe in 256 colours to see if the menu is displayed, disable intro videos in nwn.ini
@neverwinter_knight77 try these: use basic theme not aero (vista/7) or set nwmain.exe to disable desktop composition, get the earlier atioglxx.dll from the other thread about your issue
@lightfoot nwn is ogl 1.2 iirc
i should have read the post dates lol
