I'd like companions who interact and grow and develop with each other in meaningful ways - not just a bit of banter here and there. The protagonist tends to be the center of all the companions' lives, which is immersion-breakingly unrealistic.
A married couple could be interesting. Maybe they're together, but not married, when they first join the party. Maybe you can influence their relationship with each other through personal convos, leading to dramatically different and complicated results by the end of the game.
Evil companions, at least one, would also be nice. Not just "evil from a certain perspective" but a real wicked soul who enjoys the suffering and pain of others for no redeeming reason.

Who ever wanted to kill HK-47?
You're also assuming nobody might play a character who might find that person useful for their abilities or whatever regardless of their morality, or play a character who is amoral.
IMO, a cast of like-minded people is a pretty boring cast compared to a diverse cast who are forced together to cooperate out of necessity even though some of them may even hate each other.

well I'd certainly want to kill any tevinter magister I met with immediately.
DA3 should have a progressive Tevinter Magister in the party who fights for reform - wanting to abolish slavery and promote equality between mages and non-mages in the Tevinter Imperium. The character would have risen to power in spite of not using Blood Magic, slavery, etc, viewing him or her self as a testament that such things are unnecessary.

They certainly managed that with DA2, without anyone being evil.IMO, a cast of like-minded people is a pretty boring cast compared to a diverse cast who are forced together to cooperate out of necessity even though some of them may even hate each other.
A lack of slavery, yes. Blood magic, no; Fenris makes it fairly clear that it's impossible to survive as a magister without using blood magic, and in any case I vastly prefer good blood mages (such as Merrill) over those who self-righteously condemn the practice.DA3 should have a progressive Tevinter Magister in the party who fights for reform - wanting to abolish slavery and promote equality between mages and non-mages in the Tevinter Imperium. The magister idea I had was an Old God cultist who detested the Chantry in all forms, including the Imperial one. She's a bit like Morrigan in some ways, but talks more about politics and is more difficult to annoy; she tends to be on the bitingly witty side most of the time.

Exactly. DA2 shows us even characters with completely incompatible views can co-exist in a party.
To someone like you, any anti-mage/pro-templar/chantry character may as well be pure evil. So why would someone who really is just pure evil be any more of a problem?

Not really. I don't consider either Fenris or Sebastian to be pure evil.Rojahar wrote...

A female Quana`ri.
A dog - meaning a proper one. Not some gimmick that gets summoned out of thin air.

j/k
If the protagonist is someone else than we've seen, then I would prefer a new set that are not all emotionally weak people (like the second Dragon Age except two). I hope it is yet another protagonist than we've had. I doubt that the Hero of Ferelden and the Champion of Kirkwall is enough for the needs of the Seekers in their plight.

A deposed member of Tevinter nobility. Mostly an "Allies by necessity" situation. Spends a lot of time complaining about what they lost.
Kossith female. Abandon the Qun due to her martial prowess, which the Qun does not support for females. Uncertain as to whether or not it was the correct choice...LI, crossing fingers.

But in all seriousness Dragon Age 3 should have all new companions if it has a new protagonist.
