I'd be more interested in why BW had Jacob "the Prize" Taylor dump femShepard for some hussy, and didn't have Miranda dump manShepard. Because by doing that, if femShep sacrificed Kaiden at Virmire, she was left without any heterosexual LI in ME3. Not the case for manShepard if he sacrificed Ash.

Thing is... sex is the only thing that determines LI choices at the moment. You can either have realistically written romance options (not ME), or make everyone available. This hybrid solution where potential LIs only care about Shepard's sex is silly.

Oh, and for future reference, "gay/straight/bi" are meaningless unless applied within a species. Male bird + male cat isn't gay, it's *weird*. The thing I really don't get why no one has a problem with quarians being attracted to non-quarians (what would today be considered bestiality), but female quarians with female humans are an abomination against nature...

Really?  You went THERE of all places?

If you really want to get specific, a Shep/Tali romance is more like an attraction to ONE specific member of a different species of the ****** genus, where genetic difference is far enough that they can't interbreed.

The things you don't know about the Quarians: the Rannoch ecosystem relies on animals to pollenate plants and this accounts for the Quarian weakened immune system. There is no insect life. So the early quarians would also carry pollen from one plant to another when they would brush up against it. And as Javik said, they were an attractive race. They may be "fuzzy".

Not saying whether or not Tali should be a femshep love interest, but I am genuinely confused about this whole 'not everyone is bisexual ' excuse that is given. One could argue alternate reality theory here. Everytime you play through the game with a different Shepard, male or female, it's a different reality than when you play through it with another one. My ME universe for my canon MaleShep is an extremely similar universe but alternate from my one for my Femshep. So, why not simply think that every main character in the game is completely NONsexual until the dictates of that playthrough come into play?

I mean, people are constantly saying 'headcanon'...headcanon your own endings, headcanon your own Shepard's detailed background, or their motivations for doing something. Why not the same for different characters' orientations?

If I play through one with my FemShep and romance Kaidan...it's easy enough for me to headcanon Kaidan as straight. If I play thorugh a MaleShep and romance him, I can headcanon that he's gay, or bisexual. It's not that the character itself is bisexual...he has no orientation at all until i decide to give him one, and whatever one I give him is right for that particular AU.

So, make everyone romanceable for everyone. If I want to headcanon that Tali is completely gay, I can do that. If I want to headcanon that she's completely straight, I can do that. If I want to headcanon that she's bi, I can do that. And I can go in with a different Shepard and play it differently.

They're video game characters, not real people. Real people are what they are. Video game characters, especially in a game that relies so much on a player's decisions and headcanon, are what you decide they are. If I decide my Shep and Ash are BFFs, then they are. If I decide my Shep and Ash can't stand each other, they can't.

It's not that they're bisexual, is that their orientation depends on you to decide what it is. You don't want them to be gay, then they aren't. If you want them to be, then they are, and whatever you decide doesn't affect anyone else's game one iota.

Sorry, guess that reference was to opaque for you. Turians are birds and cats are mammals, so once you get past Garrus finding humans (i.e. non-turians) attractive at all, Shepard's sex shouldn't really matter.
