A bit of a rant, but more of a whine.

Having a day off, I decided to spend the time to upgrade my toolset.  That was a mistake.

I reviewed all the instructions and noted the special instruction regarding my custom data.  I downloaded the installer, ran it taking especia lcare  to not change the database.  Everything seemed to go fine; everythings going well!  I create my builder to builder packages for my add-ins and saved them in a separate directory.

Then I tried to upgrade the database using the restore batch file.  Everything seems OK; time to restart the toolset.  Oops!  "Unable to connec to database",

Three hours later, I have a working installation and am happy again.  I try to use Builder to Builder Load to bring my packages into the new db.  Oops!  Error!  the load can't get the resref.  Everything else is reported imported, but I can't see the items in the database.  I manually create the module and import the items, but the placeables and items are returned to their default state.  At least it brings in the scripts, but everything is assigned new resref/names because now they're copies of the invisible one already in the database.

So I have to rebuild all visual items from scratch and rebuild the scripts to reference the new names.  Which means lots of regression testing to verify all references are updated properly.

Arrgh.
